Freddy Head is a retired champion jockey in Thoroughbred horse racing and currently a horse trainer. Known also as "Freddie", his grandfather was a jockey as was his father Alec Head who also became a successful trainer and owner of Haras du Quesnay near Deauville. The Canton of Gournay-en-Bray is a canton situated in the Seine-Maritime département and in the Normandy region of northern France.

Habitat (1966–1987) was an American-bred British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In a racing career which lasted from April until October 1969, the colt ran eight times and won five races. Unraced as a two-year-old, he proved to be the best European miler of 1969, winning the Lockinge Stakes and the Wills Mile in England and travelling to France to win the Prix Quincey and the Prix du Moulin. He was then retired to stud where he became an outstandingly successful sire of racehorses and broodmares.

Tromos was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In the autumn of 1978 he won the Clarence House Stakes by thirteen lengths and the Dewhurst Stakes by three. As a result of these performances he was rated the best two-year-old racehorse in Europe by both the independent Timeform organisation and the official International Classification. After being beaten in the Craven Stakes on his first run in 1979 he suffered from ill health and did not race again in Europe. He returned to racing as a four-year-old in the United States but was well beaten in both his races. Tromos was then retired to stud, but died only two years later.

Sigy was a French Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She was best known for her exploits as a two-year-old in 1978, when she won her last three races culminating with a win over colts and older horses in the Prix de l'Abbaye. At the end of the season she was rated the best racehorse of her age and sex in Europe. Her three-year-old career was disappointing, although she did win the Prix du Gros Chêne. She later had some success as a broodmare.

Double Form was an Irish-bred British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. A specialist sprinter, he showed promise as a two-year-old in 1977, and improved to become a high-class performer in 1978. He won only one race as a three-year-old but was placed in several major sprints. In 1979 he improved again to become the highest-rated sprinter in the United Kingdom, winning the Temple Stakes, King's Stand Stakes and Haydock Sprint Cup in England and the Prix de l'Abbaye in France. He was the first horse to win both the King's Stand Stakes and the Prix de l'Abbaye. He was retired to stud where he was an immediate success but died in 1983.

Dougie Costello is a Double Group 1 winning Irish jockey. He now rides on the flat, having previously been a jump jockey. He is one of the few jockeys to have won at the top level in both codes - the 2012 Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival on Countrywide Flame, and the 2016 Commonwealth Cup on Quiet Reflection at Royal Ascot.

Sands of Mali French-bred Thoroughbred racehorse

Sands of Mali, is a French-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. In a career which ran from July 2017 to July 2020 he ran eighteen times and won five of his races. In 2017 he was one of the best two-year-old colts in Europe, winning two races including the Gimcrack Stakes. In the following spring he established himself as a top class sprinter, taking the Prix Sigy and Sandy Lane Stakes before being narrowly defeated in the Commonwealth Cup. He ran poorly in late summer, but returned to form in autumn to record his biggest win in the British Champions Sprint Stakes. He failed to win in six races in 2019 and 2020 and was retired to stud in August 2020.
