Simon Watson is a renowned portrait, interior, and travel photographer.
Simon Watson is a native of Dublin, Ireland. He was born in 1969 and studied film at Liberties College in Dublin . He left Ireland at the age of 19 and lived in New York for almost 25 years before returning to Dublin in 2013. During that period he spent some time living in Rome. [1] He experimented with other forms of visual art including painting before concentrating on photography.
Watson's work appears regularly in many publications from around the world, including The World of Interiors, global editions of Vogue, Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair, T Magazine [2] and W Magazine, [3] His advertising client list includes IBM, American Express, [4] and Expedia.
Apart from magazine and advertising work, he has been involved in numerous fine art projects, including a series of photographs of the interiors of houses, offices, and schools in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. In 2006 Watson was granted special access to areas of the Holocaust concentration camp, Auschwitz, which had remained unseen since 1945. He exhibited his work at the Auschwitz Museum in 2007. [5]
He has shown his work in solo and group exhibitions in the US and Europe, including solo shows at Richard Anderson Fine Art in New York and the Auschwitz Museum in Poland. His work is included in museum, public, private and corporate collections in the US, Europe and Asia. He has had numerous exhibitions of his paintings at the Gallerie Rideau de Fer-Castlefranc in Lot, France. He has most recently shown his work at Kevin Kavanagh Gallery in Dublin. He has published three books. "The Lives of Others", Rizzoli 2020, "Portrait of a House", Dürer Editions 2021 and "Afternoon at Palazzo Altemps", Dürer Editions 2022.
Watson has four children. He is married to artist Christine Lebeck Watson.
Albrecht Dürer, sometimes spelled in English as Durer, was a German painter, printmaker, and theorist of the German Renaissance. Born in Nuremberg, Dürer established his reputation and influence across Europe in his twenties due to his high-quality woodcut prints. He was in contact with the major Italian artists of his time, including Raphael, Giovanni Bellini, and Leonardo da Vinci, and from 1512 was patronized by Emperor Maximilian I.
Robert Ballagh is an Irish artist, painter and designer. Born in suburban Dublin, Ballagh's initial painting style was strongly influenced by pop art. He is also known for his hyperrealistic renderings of Irish literary, historical and establishment figures, or designing more than 70 Irish postage stamps and a series of banknotes, and for work on theatrical sets, including for works by Samuel Beckett and Oscar Wilde, and for Riverdance in multiple locations. Ballagh's work has been exhibited at many solo and group shows since 1967, in Dublin, Cork, Brussels, Moscow, Sofia, Florence, Lund and others, as well as touring in Ireland and the US. His work is held in a range of museum and gallery collections. He was chosen to represent Ireland at the 1969 Biennale de Paris.
Simon Vouet was a French painter who studied and rose to prominence in Italy before being summoned by Louis XIII to serve as Premier peintre du Roi in France. He and his studio of artists created religious and mythological paintings, portraits, frescoes, tapestries, and massive decorative schemes for the king and for wealthy patrons, including Richelieu. During this time, "Vouet was indisputably the leading artist in Paris," and was immensely influential in introducing the Italian Baroque style of painting to France. He was also, according to Pierre Rosenberg, "without doubt one of the outstanding seventeenth-century draughtsmen, equal to Annibale Carracci and Lanfranco."

Patrick Anthony Hennessy RHA was an Irish realist painter. He was known for his highly finished still lifes, landscapes and trompe l'oeil paintings. The hallmark of his style was his carefully observed realism and his highly finished surfaces, the result of a virtuoso painting technique. He was brought up in Arbroath by his mother and step-father, his father having been killed during World War One. He attended Dundee School of Art where he met his lifelong companion, the painter Henry (Harry) Robertson Craig. Two of his paintings were accepted in 1939 at the Royal Scottish Academy for their Annual Exhibition. For the next 29 years he lived in Ireland with extended trips abroad. He was elected a member of the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1949. The Hendriks Gallery in Dublin and the Guildhall Galleries in Chicago were the main outlets for his work. In the late 1960s he moved permanently to Tangier and then, after suffering ill health, to the Algarve. He died in London.
