Sonia L'Heureux is a Canadian civil servant,who was the Parliamentary Librarian of Canada from 2012 to 2018. [1] [2] She was the first woman ever named to the position. [2] [3]
Originally from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu,Quebec,L'Heureux joined the Canadian civil service in 1987. She worked for Human Resources and Social Development Canada,Finance Canada,Environment Canada and Energy,Mines and Resources Canada as a policy analyst before joining the Library of Parliament as associate librarian in 2008. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from the Universitéde Montréal.
Following the resignation of Kevin Page in March 2013,L'Heureux also served as interim Parliamentary Budget Officer until the appointment of Jean-Denis Fréchette in September. [4]

The Library of Parliament is the main information repository and research resource for the Parliament of Canada. The main branch of the library sits at the rear of the Centre Block on Parliament Hill in Ottawa,Ontario. The library survived the 1916 fire that destroyed Centre Block. The library has been augmented and renovated several times since its construction in 1876,the last between 2002 and 2006,though the form and decor remain essentially authentic. The 40th Canadian Parliament was in session from November 18,2008 to March 26,2011. Kevin Page is a Canadian economist. He was the first Parliamentary Budget Officer for Canada. He was appointed to the position on March 25,2008,and his term was completed on March 22,2013. He now teaches at the University of Ottawa. In 2013,Page was named as the Jean-Luc Pepin Research Chair on Canadian Government. In 2016,Page became the head of the newly created Institute of Fiscal Studies and Democracy (IFSD),a think tank with a focus on public finance and policy at the University of Ottawa.
