The Sri Lanka Air Force Women's Wing (SLAF Women's Wing) is the women's branch of the Sri Lanka Air Force. It was created in 1983 [1] which consists of the female members of the Sri Lanka Air Force, both airwomen [2] and lady officers. [2] Only unmarried women can join the air force. [1] In 1972, four women were commissioned as pilot officers into the Sri Lanka Volunteer Air Force who were trained in SLAF Katunayake for some weeks, this was the first time in the history of the Sri Lanka Air Force that women wore air force uniforms. [3] [4] In 2020 for the first time, two women were commissioned as pilots from the Air Force Academy, China Bay. [5] In 2023, three women were air commodores in the Sri Lanka Air Force. [4]
