Hibernian Football Club, commonly known as Hibs, is a professional football club based in the Leith area of Edinburgh, Scotland. The club plays in the Scottish Premiership, the top tier of the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL). The club was founded in 1875 by members of Edinburgh's Irish community, and named after the Roman word for Ireland. Nowadays, while the Irish heritage of Hibernian is still reflected in the name, colours and badge, support for the club is based more on geography than ethnicity or religion. Clyde's winning goal was scored with a shot that deflected off Baxter.
Ally Brazil is a Scottish former footballer, who played over 200 league games for Hibernian. He played in all three games of the marathon 1979 Scottish Cup Final, which Hibs lost in extra time of the second replay. He later went on to work as a bus driver for Lothian Buses.

In the Scottish Cup, Hibs lost 1–0 to Edinburgh derby rivals Hearts in the fourth round. Hibs challenged for a second-place finish in the league, but eventually finished in fourth.
The 2018–19 season was Hibernian's (Hibs) second season of play back in the top league of Scottish football, having been promoted from the Scottish Championship at the end of the 2016–17 season. Hibs also entered the Europa League, and progressed through two qualifying rounds before losing to Norwegian club Molde. They were knocked out of the League Cup in a penalty shootout by Aberdeen, and in the Scottish Cup by Celtic, and finished fifth in the league.
