Sunday River Golf Club is an 18-hole, semi-private golf club located in the Town of Newry, in Oxford County, in the Western mountains of Maine. It was designed by famed golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
Designed in the early 1990s, the construction of the course began in 2003 under the leadership of Harris Golf.
The course opened to rave reviews in 2005. Since its opening it has received accolades from such notable golf publications as Travel + Leisure Golf , Golf Week Magazine , Golf Styles New England and the Robb Report .
In 2012 Sunday River Golf Club hosted the Maine Amateur Golf Championship.
The course is now owned by Newry Holdings LLC and operated by Sunday River Resort as of 2019.

Newry is a resort town in Oxford County, Maine, United States. The town’s year-round population was 411 at the 2020 census. The town is best known as the home of Sunday River Ski Resort and has a proportionately large seasonal (winter) population. Newry was also the site of one of Maine's worst Cold War aircraft crashes.
The Androscoggin River is a river in the U.S. states of Maine and New Hampshire, in northern New England. It is 178 miles (286 km) long and joins the Kennebec River at Merrymeeting Bay in Maine before its water empties into the Gulf of Maine on the Atlantic Ocean. Its drainage basin is 3,530 square miles (9,100 km2) in area. The name "Androscoggin" comes from the Eastern Abenaki term Ammoscocongon, which referred to the entire portion of the river north of the Great Falls in Lewiston, Maine. The Anglicization of the Abenaki term is likely an analogical contamination with the colonial governor Edmund Andros.

The 1976 NCAA Skiing Championships were contested at Sunday River ski area, near the town of Newry, Maine, at the 23rd annual NCAA-sanctioned ski tournament to determine the individual and team national champions of men's collegiate alpine, cross country skiing, and ski jumping in the United States.
