Sunflower is a Sri Lankan pop band [1] [2] established in the early 1980s, led by Neil Warnakulasooriya. [3] The band's name, "Sunflower" was reportedly given by veteran Sri Lankan musician, Clarence Wijewardena. [4] [5]
Sunflower performed their first show on 4 September 1983 in Dankotuwa. [6] The original band consisted of Neil Warnakulasooriya, Nelson Vas, Ivor de Mel,Erny peiris,Christopher liyanage,Lushan alahakoon and Athula Adhikari. [7]

Vithana Kuruppu Arachchilage Clarence Arthur Somasinghe Wijewardena JP, known professionally as Clarence Wijewardena, was a Sri Lankan singer, composer and musician. Considered one of the most respected musicians in Sri Lanka, Wijewardena revolutionized Sri Lankan Sinhala Pop Music with the use of the electric guitar in Sinhala music, in the 1960s. Due to his influence on Sinhala pop music, he is often named as the "father of Sri Lankan pop music".
The Gypsies are a Sri Lankan baila band that performs Sinhala and English songs. The band was founded in the early 1970s and has since garnered a huge fan base across Sri Lanka and is one of Sri Lanka's most famous bands. They are a highly paid band in Sri Lanka, as they constantly perform at parties, dances and at many concerts.
Mahinda College is a Buddhist boys' school in Galle, Sri Lanka. The school was established on 1 March 1892 by the Buddhist Theosophical Society led by Colonel Henry Steel Olcott. As of May 2022 it is a national school providing primary and secondary education across 13 grades.
Pasquel Wasam Ananda Keerthirathna, popularly known as Keerthi Pasquel, is a Sri Lankan pop musician and composer. He has been performing for more than three decades and has won a number of awards. Keerthi is a judge on the reality show Derana Dream Star and sets the record as the only judge in Sri Lanka to sit for 10 consecutive seasons in a reality show beginning from 2008 until today. He has been active in music education and in social welfare. He is affectionately known as the "balladeer of Sinhala music".
Kalutara electoral district is one of the 22 multi-member electoral districts of Sri Lanka created by the 1978 Constitution of Sri Lanka. The district is conterminous with the administrative district of Kalutara in the Western province. Uswatta Liyanage Ivor Sylvester Sunil Perera was a Sri Lankan vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and composer. He was associated with Sri Lanka's baila genre, and gained the nickname "Baila Chakravarthy".

Sonduru Wasanthe (The Lovely Spring) (Sinhala: සොඳුරු වසන්තේ) is a 2006 Sri Lankan Sinhala romantic drama film directed by Roy de Silva and produced by Ajanee Rita Perera for Ajanee Films. It stars newcomer Tharindu Wijesinghe, with Chathurika Peiris and Anarkali Akarsha in lead roles along with Arjuna Kamalanath, and Anusha Damayanthi. Music composed by Sangeeth Wickramasinghe. It is the 1075th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema.
The 2017–18 SLC Twenty20 Tournament was a Twenty20 cricket tournament that was held in Sri Lanka. It was played between domestic teams in Sri Lanka, with the tournament starting on 24 February 2018 and concluding on 8 March 2018. The matches were used as preparation for the 2018 Nidahas Trophy.
Nidahase Piya DS is a 2018 Sri Lankan Sinhala biographical film directed by Suneth Malinga Lokuhewa and co-produced by Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, Dilman Jayaratne, Channa Hettiarachchi, Rajaputhra Weerasinghe, Kithsiri Athulathmudali and Clarance Kumarage. It stars an ensemble cast of many popular actors, with Lakshman Mendis in the lead role, with Thumindu Dodantenna and Saranga Disasekara in supportive roles. Music composed by Samantha Perera. It is the 1313th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema.
In August 2019 President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena awarded national honours to 70 individuals for distinguished services. The awards ceremony was held on 19 August 2019 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in Colombo.
