Intocable is an American band from Zapata, Texas that plays regional Mexican music; specializing in norteño and tejano music. It was started by friends Ricardo Javier Muñoz and René Orlando Martínez in the early 1990s. In a few years, Intocable fused the genres Tejano and Norteño with a musical signature that fused Tejano's robust conjunto and Norteño folk rhythms with a pop balladry. Intocable is perhaps the most influential group in Tejano and their tough Tejano/Norteño fusion has become the blueprint for several Tejano bands. The group's style combines romantic, hooky melodies, tight instrumentation and vocal harmony.
Selena is the self-titled debut studio album by American Tejano singer Selena, released on October 17, 1989, by EMI Latin. Its music incorporates a range of contemporary genres with a mix of cumbia and regional styles of Mexican music. The album was released following company president Jose Behar's failed crossover request for the singer. The project was denied by the heads of EMI Records' pop division, believing the singer should first strengthen her fanbase. Selena's brother and principal record producer and songwriter, A.B. Quintanilla III fought to remain the singer's producer. The band introduced Pete Astudillo and Joe Ojeda, who contributed to the album's experimental production and songwriting. Aside from A.B., Selena worked with two Mexican songwriters, Alejandro Montealegre and Reinaldo Ornelas.

The Tejano Music Awards (TMA) is an accolade created by former arts teacher and musician Rudy Trevino in 1980. The accolade recognizes outstanding performers of Tejano music, a German polka-based Latin music genre recorded in Spanish or English-language. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by Tejano artists and bands and the presentation of all awards. The Tejano Music Awards are annually presented in San Antonio, Texas, although the ceremony has been presented in other cities such as Eagle Pass, Texas in the past.

Jonny Martinez is an Tejano Tejano/country singer, producer, arranger, composer, and songwriter, based in San Antonio, Texas. He has positioned himself as an independent artist who is interested in recording authentic Tejano, Tex-Mex and country music. He has been recording since 1988, to include "Que Bonita"(1991 Carino Records), "Caminos Chuecos", "Ron Con Coca Cola" ), "Mujer Mexicana", "La Callejera", "Lo Mejor de Jonny Martinez" "Dedicado A Mi Madre" and "Admirando a Mi Padre". Martinez, owner and producer of AMI Records Latin, signed Rebecca Valadez in 2005 and received a Grammy Award nomination in 2006 for Best Tejano Album. In 2007, he also participated as a recording engineer for Ram Herrera, in which the CD was nominated for Best Tejano Album. In 2008 & 2009, Martinez was involved in yet two more CD projects as an engineer with Grammy Nominations under Sunny Sauceda for Tejas Records.
José María De León Hernández, known professionally as Little Joe, is an American tejano performer who was born and raised in Temple, Texas.

The Legends are a Tejano "supergroup" of senior Tejano musicians. Members are Carlos Guzmán, Freddie Martínez Sr., Sunny Ozuna, and Augustín Ramírez. The group's first album ¿Qué Es Música Tejana? (2000) won a Latin Grammy Award as Best Tejano Album in 2001, and the group were nominated again at Latin Grammy Awards of 2007 for Otra Vez Raices (2006).
David Lee Garza is an American Tejano musician and bandleader. Garza was born and raised in Poteet, Texas.
The 42nd Annual Tejano Music Awards ceremony was held on November 26, 2022. It recognized the best recordings, compositions, and artists of Tejano music during the eligibility year, running from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021.
