Neil Cochran is a Scottish former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in the Olympics, European championships and World University Games, and swam for Scotland in the Commonwealth Games, during the 1980s. Cochran competed in medley and freestyle swimming events.

The 4×100 metres medley relay is a medley race in which each of four swimmers on a team swims a 100-metre leg of the relay, each swimming a different stroke, in the following sequence:

  3. Butterfly;
  4. Freestyle.

George Gleason is a former swimmer from the U.S. Virgin Islands, who specialized in freestyle and backstroke events. He is a two-time Olympian, a swimming captain for the Yale Bulldogs, and a graduate of sociology (2001) at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Gleason also capped his swimming career by an eleventh-place finish in the 200 m backstroke at the NCAA Swimming Championships in College Station, Texas, earning him All-American honors.

Aleksey Sergeyevich Kovrigin is a Russian former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and individual medley events. He is a three-time Russian swimming in the 400 m individual medley, and a current president of the Krasnoyarsk Swimming Federation. He is also a graduate of physical education at Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University.

Georgios Dimitriadis is a Cypriot former swimmer, who specialized in individual medley events. He is a two-time Olympian, and a former Cypriot record holder in the 200, and 400 m individual medley and 400 m individual medley

Jan Víťazka is a Czech former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly and in individual medley events. He is a 2000 Olympian and a six-time Czech record holder. While studying in the United States, he also holds three school records as a member of the University of Cincinnati swimming and diving team from 1996 to 1999. During his early sporting career, Víťazka trained for Kometa Brno Swim Club under head coach Ondřej Butir.

Artem Honcharenko is a Ukrainian former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and in individual medley events. Honcharenko competed in three swimming events at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He eclipsed a FINA B-cut of 2:04.30 from the Belarus Championships in Minsk. On the first day of the Games, Honcharenko teamed up with Vyacheslav Shyrshov, Pavlo Khnykin, and the late Rostyslav Svanidze in the 4×100 m freestyle relay. Honcharenko swam the third leg in heat three and recorded a split of 49.98, but the Ukrainians settled only for fourth place and twelfth overall with a final time of 3:21.48. Three days later, Honcharenko, along with Svanidze, Ihor Snitko, and Serhiy Fesenko, placed fourteenth in the 4×200 m freestyle relay with a time of 7:32.16. In his final event, 200 m individual medley, Honcharenko placed thirty-first on the morning prelims. Swimming in heat four, he pulled off a fifth-place effort with a much faster freestyle leg in 2:05.98, a 1.68-second deficit off his entry time.

Andrei Pakin is a Kyrgyzstani former swimmer, who specialized in middle-distance freestyle and in individual medley events. Pakin competed in two swimming events at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He eclipsed a FINA B-cut of 2:09.26 from the Russian Open Championships in Saint Petersburg. In the 4×200 m freestyle relay, Pakin, along with Aleksandr Shilin, Ivan Ivanov, and Russian import Dmitri Kuzmin, were disqualified from heat one for an early takeoff during the lead-off leg. The following day, in the 200 m individual medley, Pakin placed fortieth on the morning prelims. He posted a sterling time of 2:07.88 to overhaul a fast-pacing George Gleason of the Virgin Islands at the final turn and blister a top finish in heat one.
