Anna University is a state technical university in Tamil Nadu, India. The main campus is in Guindy, Chennai and the satellite campus is in Chromepet, Chennai. It was established on 4 September 1978. It is ranked the tenth institution in India overall by the National Institutional Ranking Framework, ranked fourth among universities, and ranked eighth in engineering. The main campus houses the College of Engineering, Guindy; Alagappa College of Technology, School of Architecture and Planning, and three technical departments of the University of Madras. The Madras Institute of Technology is located in the Chromepet campus.

Madras Music Academy is one of the earliest established music academies in South India. Before the concept of infrastructure was introduced to India in the early 1920s, it was a gathering for elite musicians simply called Music Academy It plays an important role in encouraging and promoting primarily the Carnatic Music Indian art form. It played a vital role in the revival of the Indian classical dance form of Bharatnatyam in the 1930s when it faced near extinction due to a negative connotation caused by conservative societal standards.
Chennai Music Season is an event hosted every Mid November–January in the Chennai Tamil Nadu. Spanning some 10 weeks, a number of large and small kutcheris are performed by highly competent musicians. The traditional role of the Music Season is to allow aficionados of Carnatic music to appreciate performances by renowned artists, and to allow promising young artists to display their talent and skill. Audiences and artists come from across India, from the international Indian diaspora and internationally those who have been exposed to and appreciate Classical Indian Music, to be part of the event. It is touted to be the largest music festival in the world, with a total of over 3000 individual and Group Music performances by various renowned and amateur artists across the span of a little over 2 months.As per the Schedules for the December season compiled by well known sponsor 2018, the number of listed performances is 2300. As admitted by the compiler, it is not exhaustive. It does not include the performances at many Organisations such as the Tamil Kalachara Sangam, MLA Concerts Bilvamusic Fest,Ayyappa Bhaktha Samajam, Deivath Thamizh Isai Vizha -- the list becomes longer. This will amount to at least 1000 performances. If you Add other related programs, one has to add Thiruppaavai,Thiruvembaavai Upanyasams at various venues numbering 750 performances. To this Plays and Dramas amounting to at least 400 when added, total number of such programs during the Music Season will cross 4400.Undoubtedly it is not only the single biggest music festival in the world as of today and also the biggest event comprising the largest number of stage performances and programs. One startling feature of this festival is hardly one can find cancellations of scheduled programs, which speaks of the commitment of the Artistes and Organisations. Needless to say, the quality of the performances during this festival including junior artistes is, to tell the least, is above average to very high. In 2015, the celebrations were slightly postponed, a first of its kind, due to the 2015 South Indian Floods that devastated Chennai.
Tiruvellore Thattai Krishnamachari (1899–1974) was the Indian Finance Minister from 1956–1958 and from 1964–1966. He was also a founding member of the first Governing Body of NCAER, the National Council of Applied Economic Research in New Delhi, India’s first independent economic policy institute established in 1956. Krishnamachari graduated from Madras Christian College (MCC) and was a visiting professor to the department of economics at MCC. He was popularly known as TTK. He has the ignominy of being the first minister in free India to have resigned due to his involvement in a scam. He was also a member of drafting committee, an entrepreneur and prominent leader within the Indian National Congress.
Palghat T. S. Mani Iyer (1912–1981) was one of the leading mridangists in the field of Carnatic music. He was awarded the Madras Music Academy's Sangeetha Kalanidhi in 1966. Mani Iyer was the first mridangist to win the Sangeetha Kalanidhi and Padmabhushan awards of the Government of India. He received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1956. He, along with his contemporaries Palani Subramaniam Pillai and Ramanathapuram C. S. Murugabhoopathy, are revered as the "Holy Trinity of Mridangam".
Chennai Book Fair or Madras Book Fair is an annual book fair organized in the Chennai, India by the Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI). The fair typically lasts for about two weeks during the New Year-Pongal season. The fair is usually held between the last week of December and the third week of January. In 2016, following the 2015 South Indian floods, for the first time, the book fair was rescheduled to be held in May. Instead, an alternate low-key Pongal Book Fair was held between 13 and 24 January for book lovers and tourists.

As an activist, he has championed a number of causes connected to the environment, the caste system, communalism, religious reform, reform of social practises and so on. On November 18, 2018 he performed in New Delhi invited by Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP government which gathered audience in thousands.
Rao Bahadur Sir Vangal Thiruvenkatachari KrishnamachariKCSI, KCIE was an Indian civil servant and administrator. He served as the Diwan of Baroda from 1927 to 1944, Prime Minister of Jaipur State from 1946 to 1949 and as a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1961 to 1964.

She also co-authored the first comprehensive reference CD-ROM on Carnatic music, Nadanubhava. She is a visiting professor at the Advanced School of Carnatic Music of the Music Academy Madras and a member of the academic council of the Tamil Nadu Music & Fine Arts University. She was also a member of the Governing Body of the Kalakshetra Foundation.
