Tales from the Planet Sylvia is a 1990 collection of comic strips by the American cartoonist Nicole Hollander from her syndicated comic strip Sylvia .
A comic strip is a sequence of drawings arranged in interrelated panels to display brief humor or form a narrative, often serialized, with text in balloons and captions. Traditionally, throughout the 20th century and into the 21st, these have been published in newspapers and magazines, with horizontal strips printed in black-and-white in daily newspapers, while Sunday newspapers offered longer sequences in special color comics sections. With the development of the internet, they began to appear online as webcomics. There were more than 200 different comic strips and daily cartoon panels in South Korea alone each day for most of the 20th century, for a total of at least 7,300,000 episodes.

The strips are non-continuous with one another, as is usual for Sylvia, and they feature the standard content of Sylvia comics, such as cats, gender politics, and the afterlife. The strips display a pungent sense of humor and a strong touch of feminism, as the title character interacts with her friends, her daughter, and her television set.

From 1968 to 2015 it was located in the Kerkstraat, but in November 2015 the store moved to the Koningsstraat 27.. As of 2018, Lambiek is the oldest comics store in Europe and the oldest worldwide still in existence.
Flapper Fanny Says was a single-panel daily cartoon series starting in about 1924, with a Sunday page following in 1928. Created by Ethel Hays, each episode featured a flapper illustration and a witticism. It continued into the 1940s as Flapper Fanny.

Girl was a weekly comic magazine for girls published from 1951 to 1964. It was launched by Hulton Press on 2 November 1951 as a sister paper to the Eagle, and lasted through Hultons' acquisition by Odhams Press in 1959 and Odhams' merger into IPC in 1963. Its final issue was dated 3 October 1964, after which it was merged into Princess. Another comic of the same name was published by IPC from 1981 to 1990, during which time Dreamer and Tammy were merged into it.Girl was very much an "educational" magazine whose heroines, including those who got into scrapes, became involved in tales which had a moral substance. A considerable number of pages were also dedicated to real life tales of heroic women in various fields.
Sylvia was a comic strip by American cartoonist Nicole Hollander that offered commentary on political, social and cultural topics, and on cats, primarily in the voice of its title character, Sylvia. Distributed to newspapers nationally by Tribune Media Services, Sylvia appeared online at Hollander’s blog, Bad Girl Chats, but that domain now redirects to a commercial site. On March 26, 2012, Hollander announced "Sylvia's retirement from the newspaper business."
