History
Teacher training at Tambach started in the 1940s. The course was offered at what was then known as Government African School Tambach at the site of the present day Tambach High School, which was started in 1928. The college then trained teachers of T3 and T4 grades.
It was here that the retired President Daniel Arap Moi served as a tutor and head of the institution between 1948 and 1955 when he left teaching to join the colonial legislative council following his election as the council's Rift Valley representative.
In 1957, the name of the institution was changed to Tambach Training College. In 1964, the college was amalgamated with Mosoriot Teachers College following the recommendations of the Ominde Education Commission on Teachers Training.
Tambach, therefore, ceased to be a Teachers' college and gave way to be the first form one class intake that marked the beginning of the present day Tambach high school. The school still uses many of the former college buildings including staff houses. Among latter is the one that former President Moi lived in.
Facilities
Today the World Bank-funded and Chinese-constructed Teachers College standing on an 80-acre (320,000 m2) escarpment land boasts a magnificent two storey, star-shaped complex. To the right as one gets to the complex is a 1,000-capacity multipurpose Theater Hall.
Within the college complex are 18 classrooms, two science laboratories, two home science rooms (for serving and cooking), art and craft and agriculture workshops, a seminar room and an ICT laboratory.
There is also a learning resource centre (L.R.C) which contains a library, a teaching aids display room, and three audio visual rooms, one of which is a complete studio.
The administration block, at the entrance of the complex has several offices and a board room on the ground floor. On the first floor are workrooms for the members of the teaching staff.
On both sides of the complex are hostels for men and women. Large students' common rooms are attached to each of the sets of hostels which are separated by a dining hall and a kitchen.
The staff quarters are some 300 meters away. These comprise 13 three-bedroom, 26 two-bedroom mansions, and two long flats of six two-bedroom apartments.
Between the staff quarters and the main complex is a football pitch complete with a race track. Beside it is a store-cum-parking bay for the college vehicles.
A dormitory is a building primarily providing sleeping and residential quarters for large numbers of people such as boarding school, high school, college or university students. In some countries, it can also refer to a room containing several beds accommodating people.
Eldoret is a principal city in Rift Valley region and the fifth largest in the country also serves as the capital of Uasin Gishu County. Lying south of the Cherangani Hills, the local elevation varies from about 2100 metres at the airport to more than 2700 metres in nearby areas (7000–9000 feet). The population was 289,380 in the 2009 census, and it is currently the fastest growing town in Kenya. It is believed that the town is likely to be one of the big Cities in the near future due to its ever increasing population coupled with increased middle class and the ease of doing business in the town.
Uasin Gishu County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya, located in the former Rift Valley Province. The city of Eldoret is the county's largest population center as well as its administrative and commercial center.

The Elgeyo are an ethnic group that is part the larger Kalenjin ethnic group of Nilotic origin. They live near Eldoret, Kenya in the highlands of the former Keiyo District now part of the larger Elgeyo Marakwet County. The Elgeyo together with Kipsigis, Marakwet, Pokot, Sabaot, Tugen and Nandi are in some literature referred to as Highland Nilotes. The Elgeyo like other Highland Nilotes, subsist mainly on grain, milk, blood and meat provided by their cattle, sheep and goats.

Kapatarakwa is a growing centre in Elgeyo-Marakwet County, Kenya. Kaptarakwa is located about 37 km from the town of Eldoret in the Kenyan highlands. Notable natives include athletes Albert Chepkurui, Sammy Kipketer, Viola Kibiwott, Jonathan Kandie, Geofrey Kamworor, and Vivian Cheruiyot. Former powerful minister Hon. Nicholas Kipyator Biwott is a current resident. Kaptarakwa is about 8,000 feet (2,400 m) above sea level. Nearby is the Kerio Escarpment which drops down to 1,000 feet (300 m) above sea level. It is a beautiful place to visit, with fresh water emanating from the forest.
Kaptagat is a village near 25 kilometres east of Eldoret along the B54 Road in the Rift Valley Province, Kenya. It is located near the edge of the Great Rift Valley just to the southeast of the village of Chepkorio. Administratively, it is a location in Ainabkoi division of Uasin Gishu District. Its local authority is Wareng County Council and constituency is Ainabkoi Constituency. Although geographically, Kaptagat lies both on the Uasin Gishu district and Keiyo Districts. One of the nearest towns is Kimwarer, located 10 kilometers east of Kapatagat.
Phaungdawoo Monastic Education Affiliated High School or Phaung Daw Oo Monastic School is a high school of Theravada Buddhist monastic education located in Aungmyethazan Township, Mandalay, Myanmar. Frontier Medical College (FMC) is medical teaching institution and one of several medical schools affiliated to Bahria University. Located in Abbottabad of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan.The college grants the degrees Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) after completion of 5 years of medical training. Besides that, there are nursing and several para-medical courses. FMC has approximately 700 students in the MBBS and BDS programs.
St. Patrick's High School in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Formerly Rift Valley Province in Kenya is a boys only secondary school operated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Eldoret. It operates as a boarding school for about 1000 students from all parts of Kenya. The school has a staff of about 28 teachers and a similar number of support personnel.
University of Eldoret is one of the 22 public universities in Kenya and situated approximately 9 km along the Eldoret-Ziwa road in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County. It was founded in 1946 by the white settlers as a Large Scale Farmers Training Centre. In 1984, it was converted to a teachers’ training college and renamed Moi Teachers’ Training College to offer Diploma Science Teachers Training. Due to the double intake crisis, the College was taken over by Moi University as a Campus in 1990, renaming it Chepkoilel Campus. From 1990, the University made it a campus of Natural, Basic and Applied Science programmes.
Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College (GMMMC) is a constituent College of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, located in the center of Sukkur city. It is the sixth public sector Medical college under the Government of Sindhwhere 100 meritorious students of tagged districts, including Sukkur, Khairpur and Ghotki are getting education every year. GMMMC is home to 500 students in the MBBS programs, with clinical rotations occurring at GMMMC Teaching Hospital, Government Anwar Piracha Teaching Hospital. The school has a large and experienced faculty to support its mission of education, research, and clinical care. Faculty members hold appointments at basic sciences and clinical departments. There are 114 full-time faculty members consisting of Lecturers, Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and Professors at GMMMC.

Paul Kiplimo Boit was a prominent KANU politician during the Moi Regime. He was the Chairman of Sirikwa County Council (which later came to be divided to Nandi County, Uasin Gishu County, Trans Nzoia County, West Pokot County Elgeyo Marakwet County from 1964 to 1971 and later became the Chairman of Wareng County Council one of five Councils split from Sirikwa covering Uasin Gishu. He was best known for his excellent farming skills which earned him many awards and a visit from the former Tanzanian president Ali Hassan Mwinyi
The Kenya Schools and Colleges Drama Festival is a series of student theatre competitions in Kenya, held from January to April each year, advancing through local, county and regional stages to the National Drama Festival. Students from primary schools to colleges take part, with total annual participation of roughly five million students, making it the biggest educational theatre event in Africa.
