Tangeni Iiyambo

Tangeni Iiyambo is a Namibian politician. He is the president of the South West Africa National Union (SWANU) since 2017. [1] Tangeni Iiyambo has served in the National Assembly of Namibia since 2018. In the 2019 Namibian general election Iiyambo ran as presidential candidate. He only gathered 0.7% of the popular vote but will continue to occupy the sole seat in Parliament that SWANU won. [2]

SWANU political party

The South West Africa National Union (SWANU) is a Namibian political party founded in 1959. Most of its members came from the Herero people, while fellow independence movement SWAPO was mostly an Ovambo party. The party's president is Tangeni Iiyambo.

The Ovamboland People's Organization was a nationalist organization that existed between 1959 and 1960 in South West Africa. The aim of the organization was to end the South African colonial administration, and the placement of South West Africa under the United Nations Trusteeship system. Andimba Toivo ya Toivo had founded its predecessor, the Ovamboland People's Congress, in 1957 in Cape Town, South Africa. In 1959, Sam Nujoma and Jacob Kuhangua established the Ovamboland People's Organization (OPO) at the Old Location in Windhoek. Sam Nujoma was the president of OPO until its transformation into the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) a year later and remained president until Namibia gained independence in 1990.

Utoni Nujoma Namibian Minister of Justice

Utoni Daniel Nujoma is a Namibian politician who has served in the government of Namibia as Minister of Land Reform since 2015 after being appointed to the position by president Hage Geingob. Previously he was Deputy Minister of Justice from 2005 to 2010, Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2010 to 2012, and Minister of Justice from 2012 to 2015. Nujoma is also a member of the Central Committee and Politburo of SWAPO. He is the first born son of Namibia's founding President Sam Nujoma, who was in office as president from 1990 to 2005, and Kovambo Nujoma, the former First Lady of Namibia.

Clemens Kapuuo was a Namibian school teacher, shopkeeper, president of the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA), now called Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), and chief of the Herero people of Namibia. Kapuuo was one of the leading opponents of South African rule of his country until his assassination following the Turnhalle Constitutional Conference.

Usutuaije Maamberua is a Namibian politician. He was the president of the South West Africa National Union (SWANU) until 2017. Maamberua has served in the National Assembly of Namibia since 2010.

Namibia–Sweden relations refers to the current and historical relationship of Namibia and Sweden. Namibia maintains an embassy in Stockholm, while Sweden closed its embassy in Windhoek in 2008. From Namibia's independence in 1990 until 2007, Sweden was a primary donor of aid to develop Namibia's public sector but, in 2007, development aid began to be scaled back.

William Eric Getzen, more commonly known as Mburumba Kerina, is a Namibian politician, academic, and author. He is a co-founder of SWAPO, NUDO, and FCN, and the founder of a host of smaller political parties. For independent Namibia he was a member of Namibia's Constituent Assembly, as well as the National Assembly and the National Council. Kerina coined the name "Namib" for the independent state "Namibia" on the territory of South West Africa.

Advocate Vekuii Reinhard Rukoro is a Namibian lawyer, businessman, and the current Paramount Chief of the Herero people. He also served in Namibia's Parliament and Cabinet, and as attorney-general.

Tangeni Lungameni is a Namibian international cricketer who made his debut for the Namibian national team in January 2016. He is a left-arm pace bowler.
