Mansoor Rana, is a former Pakistani cricketer who played two One Day Internationals. Despite scoring more than 12,000 runs in first-class cricket, he was unable to break into his country's Test cricket side, due to the presence of Javed Miandad, Salim Malik and others. He is one cricket coach who has won domestic trophies as a coach for Lahore, Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited. Later, he was appointed as the head coach for Pak u19s cricket team that won the World cup in 2006 in Srilanka. Then he coached Pakistan Woman's Team and led them to win their first Gold Medal in the Asian Games 2010 in China. He is currently serving as the manager of the Pakistan Cricket Team.
Chess was contested at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar from 2 December 2006 to 14 December 2006. Rapid Chess was held for men and women individually as well as a mixed team Standard Chess competition. All events were held at the Al-Dana Indoor Hall.

The United States won 18 medals, six gold, six silver and six bronze, which was the highest tally. Host nation China, finished 11th on the medals table, while Russia finished ninth.
