Terai Television was a privately owned Nepali television channel. It was the first Nepali satellite channel that beamed outside of Kathmandu. Terai TV was later rebranded as TTV. It had its headquarters outside of Kathmandu Valley, in Birgunj, which falls in the Terai region of Nepal. It went off satellite in April 2014 limiting its broadcast to cable networks, however it ceased broadcasting and went off air after the 2015 earthquake. The current Chairman of the company is Mr. J.K Sthapit.

Terai plain

The Terai or Tarai is a lowland region in northern India and southern Nepal that lies south of the outer foothills of the Himalayas, the Sivalik Hills, and north of the Indo-Gangetic Plain. This lowland belt is characterised by tall grasslands, scrub savannah, sal forests and clay rich swamps. In northern India, the Terai spreads from the Yamuna River eastward across Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. The Terai is part of the Terai-Duar savanna and grasslands ecoregion. The corresponding lowland region in West Bengal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Assam in the Brahmaputra River basin is called 'Dooars'. In Nepal, the Terai stretches over 33,998.8 km2 (13,127.0 sq mi), about 23.1% of Nepal's land area, and lies at an altitude of between 67 and 300 m. The region comprises more than 50 wetlands. North of the Terai rises the Bhabar, a narrow but continuous belt of forest about 8–12 km (5.0–7.5 mi) wide.

Ncell Axiata Limited is a mobile service provider from Nepal. It was founded under the name "Mero Mobile" in 2004. Four years later it was re-branded as "Ncell" by its parent company Telia Company. On 12 April 2016, Ncell became a part of Axiata Group Berhad when the group bought 100% of the shares of Reynhold Holdings, which then held 80% of Ncell shares.

NTV PLUS is a television channel in Nepal. NTV Plus is one of the two program divisions of Nepal Television that was established to serve a different objective than its other division - the national transmission in the year 2060 BS i.e., 2003 AD. Currently, NTV plus is running round clock, 7 days a week. NTV Plus was set up with a clear vision to reach out to the youth population through its wide range of programs that basically includes entertainment, informative and sports programs. Embracing sheer professionalism, while pursuing its aspiration the channel in a very short span of time has succeeded in garnering immense affection of viewers. In addition to the afore mentioned programs, the broadcasting of other program like World Cup football, Olympic Games, various national and international level sporting events has further helped the channel attract the youth viewers. As per the set objectives, more than 70% of the programs broadcast on NTV Plus are entertainment based while 20% of the programs comprises informative, sports based and others. NTV Plus has also been broadcasting a LIVE musical program on a daily basis. Currently transmitted through satellite and terrestrial means, the channel can also be viewed online across the world. NTV Plus aims at establishing additional terrestrial centers in the near future. At present, 40% of the current population and 27% of the territorial area have an easy access to NTV Plus.

Nepal Television Public television network of Nepal

Nepal Television is the oldest and most watched television channel in Nepal. For many years this was the only television channel from Nepal. The news broadcast at 8:00 p.m. is the channel's most popular show, followed by comedy program Sakkigoni, Mundre Ko Comedy Club and Meri Bassai.

The Image Channel is a private television channel in Nepal. It is owned by Image Group of Companies, which also run FM station and located in Lazimpat, Kathmandu. It produces several kinds of news programs, talkshows, entertainment shows, teleserials, etc. Image Channel went on air with a ​1 12-hour block through Nepal Television on 25 January 1997. Its initial programs were focused on pop music, women, celebrity and fashion. Programs such as Image Pop, Button & Trades, AM Guest and Srijana ko Sansar gained huge popularity among the audiences.

The term Madheshi people is used by academics for people of Indian ancestry residing in the Terai of Nepal and comprising various cultural groups such as Hindu caste groups, Muslims, Marwaris and indigenous people of the Terai. Since the late 1940s, the term 'Madhes' was used by politicians in the Nepal Terai to differentiate between interests of the people of the Terai and of the hills. In recent times, some politicians and journalists use the term for all Nepali citizens of the Terai.
