The Animated Tales Of Gwar is a 2013 one-reel animated cartoon produced by Myke Chilian and the heavy metal band Gwar. It was released online by Funny Or Die Cartoons. [1]

The following tables list films released in 2013. Three popular films were all re-released in 3D and IMAX.

Animated cartoon film genre

An animated cartoon is a film for the cinema, television or computer screen, which is made using sequential drawings, as opposed to animation in general, which include films made using clay, puppets, 3D modeling and other means. Animated cartoons are still created for entertainment, commercial, educational and personal purposes.

Heavy metal is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock, and acid rock, the bands that created heavy metal developed a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness. The genre's lyrics and performance styles are sometimes associated with aggression and machismo.

Plot

New song

The short opens with Gwar performing "Bring Back The Bomb" at a venue. Oderus then announces that they have a new song for "all you kids". He then pulls up a stool and plays an acoustic guitar and sings about putting stuff away. This incites fury from the audience. (With one audience member throwing a beer bottle at Oderus, but hitting Jizmak instead.) When the other band members confront him on the matter, he says he's tired of the violent image the band puts out and wants to make them a children's band, utilizing "education through positive music". The others are shocked at this revelation.

Doctor

When Pustulus asks if he's high, Oderus says he is indeed high, on life. Beefcake says they need a doctor. The doctor diagnoses Oderus' condition as "lead singer menopause", an illness that turns people into children's performers. He goes on to say that the cure rests in the highest mountaintops of Antarctica, and that once obtained, it can return Oderus to his regular objectionable self. The doctor wishes them good luck as he goes to use the bathroom. Gwar leaves the room to get the cure while Oderus stays behind to censor Gwar's merchandise.

Birthday party

In another room, Weird Al Yankovic is talking with someone on the phone about performing at a kid's birthday party. Oderus listens in on the conversation and expresses desire to trade places with Weird Al. At that moment, he gets an idea. When Weird Al sees him, he expresses joy at meeting his idol, which quickly turns to horror as Oderus assaults him.

Meanwhile, Gwar is climbing an Antarctic mountain where Jizmak suffers a stream of bad luck. (Getting a piece of Beefcake's armor stuck in his eye, getting a pickaxe stuck in his leg by a texting Balsac, getting a second pickaxe stuck in his head by Beefcake, who then throws him at the mountain summit, releasing an undead Tyrannosaurus rex.)

Meanwhile, Oderus stops at the birthday party Weird Al was to appear at, wearing Weird Al's face and hair like a mask. He is able to fool the family and get in. Back in Antarctica, Gwar is doing battle with the undead dinosaur when the doctor appears in Beefcake's subconscious and reveals that the cure for Oderus' affliction is in the dinosaur's blood. At that moment, the dinosaur attacks and eats the doctor before getting its head sliced off by Beefcake.

Back at the party, Oderus is failing to win the children's favor, with a girl stating that kids like "gross out humor". At that moment, Weird Al's face slides off, revealing Oderus' true identity. Then, Gwar bursts in and Beefcake injects the cure into Oderus' head, which returns him to normal, to the delight of his bandmates. The band then celebrates by slaughtering everybody at the party.

Post credits

In a post-credits scene, Weird Al is met with upset reactions from the audience and fails to get them happy, swearing revenge on Gwar for ruining him.

Gwar, often stylized as GWAR, is an American heavy metal band formed in Richmond, Virginia in 1984, composed of and operated by a frequently rotating line-up of musicians, artists and filmmakers collectively known as Slave Pit Inc. Following the death of frontman and lead singer Dave Brockie in 2014, the group has continued without any of its founding members.

Dave Brockie Experience

The Dave Brockie Experience or DBX was formed of three of the then-current members of Heavy metal band Gwar. Dave Brockie hinted at the possibility of the band's breakup in the past due to the exhausting nature of lower-budget touring. In February 2008, several sources reported that the band would be touring as an opening act for the reunited Green Jellÿ. Dave Brockie stated, on his website, that this was not the case and there were no official discussions concerning the tour.

Scumdogs of the Universe is the second album by satirical shock rock band Gwar. The album is their first album on Metal Blade Records and was released in 1990. To date, it is the band's best-selling album.

<i>This Toilet Earth</i> 1994 studio album by Gwar

This Toilet Earth is the fourth album released by heavy metal band Gwar. Released in 1994, this album was to be one of their oddest and most bittersweet albums. It was the first Gwar album to be censored, due to their gain in popularity as a result of MTV exposure. The music and artwork is almost cartoonish when compared to the previous albums, and the instrumentation had expanded to include horns that reinforce the goofiness. An instrumental version of the song "Jack the World" was also featured in the Beavis and Butt-Head video game for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

Ragnarök is the fifth album, released in 1995 on Metal Blade Records, by the rock/heavy metal/punk band Gwar. This album contains the most varied vocal stylings of any Gwar album, as the majority of the band lends their vocals to the track list, as well as guest villain Cardinal Syn.

Jizmak Da Gusha musician

Jizmak Da Gusha is the drummer in the rock band Gwar. Although the costume has undergone many changes since the character was introduced, Jizmak's onstage get-up somewhat resembles a monstrous dog with very large teeth. He is usually seen wielding a large warhammer, most likely a reference to his role as drummer in the band.

Beefcake the Mighty American musician

Beefcake the Mighty is the bassist in the metal band Gwar. He appears as a stout humanoid girded in Roman-style armor. He is usually portrayed wielding either an oversized Gladius sword or a large battle-axe.

Dave Brockie Canadian musician

David Murray Brockie was a Canadian musician, and best known as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Gwar, in which he performed as Oderus Urungus. He performed as a bassist and lead singer in bands such as Death Piggy, X-Cops, and the Dave Brockie Experience (DBX), and starred in the comedy/horror TV sitcom Holliston as Oderus Urungus. Brockie died in 2014 of a heroin overdose.

<i>Battle Maximus</i> 2013 studio album by Gwar

Battle Maximus is the thirteenth studio album by Gwar. The album was released on September 17, 2013 through Metal Blade Records. The album was the first to feature new guitarist Brent Purgason, portraying the new character Pustulus Maximus, the first album to feature bassist Jamison Land, portraying longtime character, Beefcake the Mighty and the last to feature vocalist Dave Brockie who portrayed Oderus Urungus due to Brockie's death on March 23, 2014.

Blöthar Brown is the current lead vocalist, and occasional bassist, in the metal band Gwar. He appears as a stout pigface horned goblin. Gwar's appearance at the 2014 Chicago Riot Fest debuted an udder that sprays fluids on the crowd, much like the "Cuttlefish of Cthulu" penile attachment sported by the late Gwar singer Oderus Urungus. Blöthar Brown is usually portrayed wielding a wooden shield sword or a battle-axe.

Black Friday is a single by thrash metal band Gwar, issued on picture disc for Record Store Day Black Friday 2016. It is the first studio material released by the band since founding member and lead singer Dave Brockie died of a heroin overdose on March 23, 2014. Side A contains the band's final studio recording with Brockie, and side B contains the band's first studio recording with new lead singer Michael Bishop as his new character Blothar the Berserker. Side B also features the only appearance of the character Vulvatron Destructo, portrayed by singer and seamstress Kim Dylla, due to her dismissal from the band in early 2015.
