The Daily Guardian is an English-language newspaper circulating in Iloilo City, the Philippines, with its intended audience being the Western Visayas region and with a specific focus on the provinces of Iloilo, Guimaras, Aklan, Capiz, Antique and Negros Occidental. It was founded in 2000 by Kayo and Partners, a publishing firm based in Iloilo City. Lemuel Fernandez is its publisher while Francis Allan L. Angelo is its current editor-in-chief.
Iloilo, officially the Province of Iloilo, is a province in the Philippines located in the Western Visayas region. Its capital is the City of Iloilo. Iloilo occupies a major southeast portion of the Visayan island of Panay and is bordered by the province of Antique to the west, Capiz to the north, the Jintotolo Channel to the northeast, the Guimaras Strait to the east, and the Iloilo Strait and Panay Gulf to the southwest.

In addition, it is the center of the Iloilo-Guimaras Metropolitan Area, as well as the regional center and primate city of the Western Visayas region. In the 2020 census, Iloilo City had a population of 457,626 inhabitants, with a 0.42% population annual growth rate. For the metropolitan area, the total population is 1,109,649 inhabitants.
Oton, officially the Municipality of Oton, is a 1st class municipality in the province of Iloilo, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 98,509 people.
Jaro, officially the District of Jaro, is one and the largest of all the seven districts of Iloilo City, in the province of Iloilo, on the island of Panay, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. Once a separate city, it merged when Iloilo City was re-incorporated in the 1940s during the American administration in the Philippines. Jaro is the largest of all the seven districts comprising the City of Iloilo. The Iloilo City district of La Paz and the present municipalities of Leganes and Pavia, adjoined as historical parts of Jaro before they became independent.
The Iloilo River is an estuary river located in the province of Iloilo, in Western Visayas, Philippines. The river starts in Oton at Batiano River, which is also an estuary, then traverses through the Iloilo City districts of Lapuz, La Paz, Mandurriao, Molo, Arevalo and the City Proper, before emptying into the Iloilo Strait.
DYAF-TV, channel 10, was a commercial television station of Philippine television network ABS-CBN Corporation. It is owned by AMCARA Broadcasting Network in Iloilo City. Its studios are located at the ABS-CBN Broadcast Center, Luna Street, La Paz District, Iloilo City, and transmitter is located at Barangay Alaguisoc, Jordan, Guimaras, with a transmitting power of 5,000 watts and with effective radiating power of 50,000 watts. In 1997, ABS-CBN Iloilo successfully requested to change its frequency from Channel 4 to Channel 10 and was upgraded to an originating station serving all of Panay Island and Guimaras in 2003, with the launch of its flagship local news program in the following year TV Patrol Iloilo.
DYRIRMN Iloilo is a radio station owned and operated by the Radio Mindanao Network. Its studio is located at the St. Anne Bldg., Luna St., La Paz, Iloilo City, and its transmitter is located along Coastal Rd., Brgy. Hinactacan, La Paz, Iloilo City. Established in 1952, DYRI is the pioneer station in the city and, since 2019, the only station in the market operating 24 hours a day.

DYLLRadyo Pilipinas is a radio station owned and operated by the Philippine Broadcasting Service. Its studio is located at TRB Bldg, Mapa St., Iloilo City, while its transmitter is located at Molo, Iloilo City.
The Iloilo Football Association is a Filipino football association based in Iloilo City. It works under the Philippine Football Federation as provincial football association for the Iloilo province area. The Iloilo FA sends a team to represent the region in the yearly PFF National Men's Club Championship. Most of competitions formed by the association is played in the 10,000 capacity Iloilo Sports Complex.
Iloilo Sports Complex, also known as the Iloilo Sports Center is a multi-use sports complex in La Paz, Iloilo City, Philippines and is the venue of athletic events in Iloilo province and Western Visayas and occasionally hosts large gatherings such as concerts. Iloilo International Airport, also known as Iloilo Airport, and as Cabatuan Airport, after the municipality of Cabatuan, Iloilo where it is located, is the airport serving the province of Iloilo in the Philippines, including its capital city, Iloilo City, the regional center of the Western Visayas region. It opened its doors to commercial traffic on June 14, 2007, after a decade of planning and construction, replacing Mandurriao Airport in Mandurriao, Iloilo City which had been in service for over seventy years. As a result, the new airport inherited its IATA and ICAO airport codes, as well as its position as the fourth-busiest airport in the Philippines, from its predecessor. It is the first airport in both Western Visayas and the island of Panay to be built to international standards, and it is also considered to be the primary gateway into the region. It is classified as an international airport by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.

Panay Railways Inc. is a government-owned and controlled corporation of the Philippines headquartered in La Paz, Iloilo City on the island of Panay. It is a subsidiary of Phividec Railways Inc. of the Philippine Veterans Investment Development Corporation (Philvedec). The railway current doesn't operate any trains but it leases the property that it owns and the revenue is used to defray the personnel and administrative costs incurred from looking after its assets.
National Route 5 (N5) forms part of the Philippine highway network. It runs through the province of Capiz to the province of Iloilo, both in the island of Panay.
The COVID-19 pandemic in Western Visayas is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The virus reached Western Visayas on March 20, 2020, when the first case of the disease was confirmed in Bacolod. All provinces has at least one confirmed COVID-19 case.
