Mount Pleasant is a city in and the county seat of Henry County in the U.S. state of Iowa. The population was 9,274 in the 2020 census, an increase from 8,668 in the 2010 census. It was founded in 1835 by pioneer Presley Saunders.

Calumet is a census-designated place in Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. Although the United States Census Bureau included it as a census-designated place with the nearby community of Norvelt for the 2000 census, they are in reality two very different communities, each reflecting a different chapter in how the Great Depression affected rural Pennsylvanians. As of the 2010 census, Calumet-Norvelt was divided into two separate CDPs officially. Calumet was a typical "patch town," another name for a coal town, built by a single company to house coal miners as cheaply as possible. The closing of the Calumet mine during the Great Depression caused enormous hardship in an era when unemployment compensation and welfare payments were nonexistent. On the other hand, Norvelt was created during the depression by the US federal government as a model community, intended to increase the standard of living of laid-off coal miners.

The volunteer Archville Fire Department serves the hamlet and surrounding area, from the Hudson River to Pocantico Lake and from the edge of Briarcliff Manor to the edge of Sleepy Hollow.

The Brazelton House Hotel is a historic building located in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, United States. William P. Brazelton was an early leader in the city's development. He owned the Brazelton Banking House and he was one of the directors of the Brazelton House Company, which built the hotel. It is not clear, specifically, why the hotel bears his family name. The construction of the hotel in 1856 coincided with a building boom in Mount Pleasant with the extension of the Burlington and Missouri River Railroad into town. It was built with the belief that Mount Pleasant would need a large first class hotel, but it had financial problems from the beginning and went through a series of owners until it no longer functioned as a hotel about 1970. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. In 2015 the upper floors were converted into apartments while the main floor continued to house retail businesses.
