The Graduates (Romanian : Liceenii) is a 1986 Romanian coming of age film directed by Nicolae Corjos.
Mihai Eminescu was a Romanian Romantic poet from Moldavia, novelist, and journalist, generally regarded as the most famous and influential Romanian poet. Eminescu was an active member of the Junimea literary society and worked as an editor for the newspaper Timpul, the official newspaper of the Conservative Party (1880–1918). His poetry was first published when he was 16 and he went to Vienna, Austria to study when he was 19. The poet's manuscripts, containing 46 volumes and approximately 14,000 pages, were offered by Titu Maiorescu as a gift to the Romanian Academy during the meeting that was held on 25 January 1902. Notable works include Luceafărul, Odă în metru antic, and the five Letters (Epistles/Satires). In his poems, he frequently used metaphysical, mythological and historical subjects.

The House of Cantacuzino is a Romanian aristocratic family of Greek origin. The family gave a number of princes to Wallachia and Moldavia, and it claimed descent from a branch of the Byzantine Kantakouzenos family, specifically from Byzantine Emperor John VI Kantakouzenos. After the Russo-Ottoman War of 1710–11, a lateral branch of the family settled in Russia, receiving the princely status. In 1944, Prince Ștefan Cantacuzino settled in Sweden, where his descendants form part of the unintroduced nobility of that country.

Tatiana Niculescu is a Romanian writer and former senior editor of the Bucharest Bureau of the BBC WS. She previously worked for almost 10 years as a radio presenter and producer of the World Service in London. Her non fiction novel Deadly Confession was published in 2006 by Humanitas Publishing House. It was followed by Judges’ Book. A second edition and e-book of Deadly Confession were issued by Polirom Publishing House in 2012. The novels caused a sensation in her native country and inspired the film director Cristian Mungiu who produced and directed the film Beyond the Hills based on the same novels. The film won the award for the best screenplay at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. In 2007 a stage version of the books directed by the American-Romanian director Andrei Serban had been performed at La MaMa Theatre in New York. In 2008, the theatre performance was staged in Paris at the Béhague Palace. Peter Brook and Pascal Bruckner attended the performance.

Sunt o babă comunistă is a 2013 Romanian drama film directed by Stere Gulea. It stars Luminița Gheorghiu, Marian Râlea, and Ana Ularu. Set in 2010 post-communist Romania, the title character and her husband are visited by their daughter who has been living in the United States for the last 10 years. This prompts her to reflect on the changes that have taken place during Romania since the fall of Communism. The film is cut with flashbacks to her halcyon communist days whilst she tries to fix her daughters' money problems.
