The Lost Journals of Ven Polypheme is a series of fantasy books for young adults by American writer Elizabeth Haydon. The books tell the adventures of a young Nain explorer, Ven Polypheme, and his friends as they travel across the known world into the unknown in search of All The Worlds Magic.

His commercial success was damaged by his often tactless dealings with patrons, and by the enormous scale on which he preferred to work. He was troubled by financial problems throughout his life, which led to several periods of imprisonment for debt. He died by suicide in 1846.

Brett L. Helquist is an American illustrator best known for his work in the children's books A Series of Unfortunate Events. As such, his illustrations for that series have appeared in multiple media, including the books, the audio book covers, and the calendars. Helquist graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) with a bachelor of fine arts in illustration in 1993. After graduation, he moved to New York City where he worked full-time as a graphic designer, occasionally drawing for newspapers and magazines. He has illustrated almost 50 books.
