Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg was a Danish painter. He was born in Blåkrog in the Duchy of Schleswig. He went on to lay the foundation for the period of art known as the Golden Age of Danish Painting, and is referred to as the "Father of Danish painting".

He was one of the most talented artists in the successful generation of painters who studied under Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg but died early and has therefore left a relatively small oeuvre.
The Danish Golden Age covers a period of exceptional creative production in Denmark, especially during the first half of the 19th century. Although Copenhagen had suffered from fires, bombardment and national bankruptcy, the arts took on a new period of creativity catalysed by Romanticism from Germany. The Waagepetersen House is a listed Neoclassical town mansion located at Store Strandstræde 18 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The house takes its name after royal wine merchant Christian Waagepetersen who owned it from 1811 to 1840. His home was a meetingplace for many of the leading figures of the Danish Golden Age.

Jacob Christian Bendz was a Danish medical doctor, military surgeon and titular professor. He was created a Knight in the Order of the Dannebrog in 1846 and was awarded the Order of Merit in 1849. He was a brother of the painter Wilhelm Bendz and a son-in-law of the wealthy wine merchant Christian Waagepetersen. He also wrote "the first real Tarok book" on the game of Danish Tarok.

Albrecht Ludwig Schmidt was a Danish merchant and ship-owner. A co-founder of Schmidt & Andresen, he made a fortune on trade in the Far East and Danish West Indies. Two monumental portrait paintings painted from 1818 by C. W. Eckersberg of Schmidt and his wife are now owned by the Hirschsprung Collection.

Leaving the Table, also known as Dinner Party at the Morescos', is a 1906 oil-on-canvas group portrait painting by Laurits Tuxen depicting a dinner party in Danish businessman Jacob Heinrich Moresco's home north of Copenhagen. The painting was a gift to Moresco on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his firm. Many of the 45 people seen in the painting are well-known businessmen, politicians or other peers of the time.

Vodroffsvej 10 is one of several surviving 19th-century villas situated on the west side of St. Jørgen's Lake in the Frederiksberg district of central Copenhagen, Denmark. Built in 1865, it was one of three villas constructed in the area by master mason and architect Jørgen Wilhelm Frohne (1832-1909) for family members of the owner of nearby Vodroggsgård. An atelier in the garden was constructed in 1882 for the painter Laurits Tuxen, brother-in-law of the next owner and also a resident of the building. Other artists to have used the atelier include Julius Schultz, Hans Gyde Petersen and Daniel Hvidt. The house and atelier were both listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1980. The neighboring villa at No. 8 was also constructed by Frohne and is also heritage listed. Bonnie Mürsch — a lawyer whose father purchased the house in 1940 and is herself still living in one of its three apartments — published a book about it in conjunction with its 150th anniversary in 2015.
The statue of Ludvig Holberg by Theobald Stein, together with Herman Wilhelm Bissen's statue of Adam Oehlenschläger, flanks the main entrance to the Royal Danish Theatre on Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was created by Stein in conjunction with the inauguration of Vilhelm Dahlerup's new theatre building in 1875. Bissen's statue of Oehlenschläger is from 1861 and was originally located on Sankt Annæ Plads.
