Timothy Marcus Cole (born 2 May 1965 in Cuckfield, West Sussex) is a former British diplomat, most recently serving as Migration Envoy at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. [1]

Career

After some years working for international aid organisations Christian Aid and Save the Children, he joined the Foreign Office in 2001. [3] An Africa specialist, he was Deputy Head of Mission in Maputo (2006–2009) and Harare (2009–2012), before his appointment as Ambassador to Cuba (2012–2016). Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel y Bermúdez is a politician and engineer who is the 3rd and current first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba. As first secretary, he is the most powerful person in the Cuban government. Díaz-Canel succeeds the brothers Fidel and Raúl Castro, making him the first non-Castro leader of Cuba since the revolution. Díaz-Canel's leadership thus represents a non-dynastic form of succession for the party as well as for the state, and the end of Castro leadership in Cuba.

Armando Acosta Cordero,, known as Captain Erasmo Rodríguez, was a commander of the Cuban Rebel Army. From a very young age he participated in the struggle, with the Popular Socialist Party. He joined the Rebel Army in the Sierra Maestra and later joined Column 8 Ciro Redondo with which he contributed to liberate, different towns as well as his hometown.  

The Camilo Cienfuegos Military Schools System are a type of boarding school in the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces. Founded 1966, it has 20 campuses in many cities, and is an official military high school. They provide pre-military training to students aged 11 to 17. They forge of more than 70% of officers and 50% of the generals and colonels in the FAR. It is named after Camilo Cienfuegos, a Cuban revolutionary who, along with Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Juan Almeida Bosque, and Raúl Castro, took part in the 1956 Granma expedition. Unlike the Russian Suvorov Military Schools, they are co-educational, modeled on United States military high schools and preparatory pre-college institutes.

Anolis garridoi, also known commonly as the Escambray twig anole, is a species of lizard in the family Dactyloidae. The species is endemic to Cuba.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Serafín Sánchez</span> Cuban patriot

Serafín Gualberto Sánchez Valdivia was a Cuban patriot, abolitionist and a participant of all three Cuban wars of independence. Additionally he participated in the Gómez-Maceo Plan. He reached the rank of Major General. He participated in more than 120 fights. He was also a surveyor and teacher. Brother of Colonel Sabás Raimundo Sánchez Valdivia and Brigadier José Joaquín Sánchez Valdivia. He maintained a solid friendship with Máximo Gómez and José Martí, who considered him a brother.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">La Reforma Campaign</span>

The La Reforma Campaign was a campaign of the Cuban War of Independence which was waged for 16 months with the Cuban forces under the command of Máximo Gómez against the Spanish forces under the command of Valeriano Weyler. Despite the Spanish outnumbering the Cuban forces by 40,000 to 600, Gómez's guerrilla warfare tactics as well as the weather caused over 40 Spanish soldiers to die each day throughout the campaign. His approach was to divide his forces into tiny guerrilla groups and fight alone with his General Staff while continuously moving.
