Tim O'Brien is an American rugby union coach. He is currently the head coach for Saint Mary's College, which plays in Division 1-A.
O'Brien starred while playing college rugby as a student at Cal. [1] O'Brien also played for the United States national rugby union team, earning three caps between 1980 and 1983 playing as a center and wing. [2] O'Brien then coached the Old Blues rugby club and Lamorinda youth rugby.
Under O'Brien's leadership St. Mary's has become one of the leading college rugby teams in the United States. When O'Brien took over as Saint Mary's head coach in 2001, he transformed the program from a recreational, social activity to a competitive varsity-type program. [1] O'Brien's team quickly found success, with Saint Mary's reaching the quarterfinals of the national playoffs in 2002. [1]
In 2007, St. Mary's finished ranked fifth in the country, having beaten then #5 ranked Army in the national playoffs. O'Brien was named coach of the year by American Rugby News for the 2006–07 season. [1] [3] O'Brien led St. Mary's to the national semifinals in 2008.
Under O'Brien, St. Mary's finished second in Division 1-A competition in 2013, and in 2014 won the Division 1-A championship. O'Brien was named 2014 Coach of the Year by This Is American Rugby. [4] O'Brien has been recognized for his accomplishments in terms of recruiting, and developing relationships with alumni and with the school. [4]

William James O'Brien, nicknamed "Teapot", is an American football coach who is currently the head coach at Boston College. Previously, he was the head coach of the Houston Texans from 2014 to 2020, and at Penn State from 2012 to 2013. Prior to Boston College, O'Brien was the offensive coordinator at the University of Alabama and for the New England Patriots. After the Patriots parted ways with longtime head coach Bill Belichick at the end of the 2023 season, O'Brien was not retained by the team.
The VCU Rams are the athletic teams of Virginia Commonwealth University of Richmond, Virginia, United States. Craig Rundle is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Saint Mary's College of California from 1986 to 1989, and Colorado College from 1990 to 1996, and Albion College from 1997 to 2018, compiling a career college football coaching record of 184–141–1. Rundle led Albion to seven Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) titles.

The Chanticleers are members of the Sun Belt Conference, fielding its teams at the FBS level since 2017. The Chanticleers play their home games at James C. Benton Field at Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina.
The Davenport Panthers are the athletic teams that represent Davenport University, located in Caledonia Township, Michigan, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the NCAA Division II level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), primarily competing in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for most of its sports as a provisional member since the 2017–18 academic year. Division 1-A rugby is modeled after NCAA athletic competitions, with the 40 D1-A rugby schools divided into seven conferences: East, Midwest, Rocky Mountain, California, Big Ten, Lonestar River, and Independent.
The Lindenwood Lions men's rugby team represents Lindenwood University in college rugby. Lindenwood plays in Division I-A in the Mid-South conference. The team is coached by Josh Macy. The Lindenwood men's rugby team won the 2012 USA Rugby Division II national championship in its inaugural season, and finished second in Division I-AA for the 2012-13 season. Following the 2012-13 season, Lindenwood moved up to Division I-A for the 2013-14 season. Lindenwood has also had success in Sevens. The Lions won the D1 7s National Championship in 2015 & the Red Bull University 7s Championship.
The Bishop's Gaiters football team represents Bishop's University in Sherbrooke, Quebec in the sport of Canadian football in the Atlantic University Sport conference of U Sports. The Bishop's Gaiters football program can trace its roots back to 1884 and has fielded teams in every decade since then. The program is one of six currently playing U Sports football that has not made a Vanier Cup appearance. However, it is the only program to have appeared in three of the four current conference championship games, with two Yates Cup games played, nine Dunsmore Cup games, and four Loney Bowl games. The program has five conference championships with victories in 1986, 1988, 1990, 1994, and 2024.
