Tommy Rowland was a Star Defensive Tackle/End for the University of Nevada Las Vegas from 1968 to 1971. He played pro football two years with the Las Vegas Casinos (1972-1973).
He started every game in his four-year career at UNLV, led the team in tackles in 1969 (125) and 1971 (134) from the defensive line, recorded 37 career sacks, and was named MVP of the Defense in 1970 and 1971.
He was invited to NFL camp by the Minnesota Vikings and played entire pre-season. He was offered a free agent contract by the New York Jets in 1975.
He was elected into the UNLV Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994. He was elected into the Arvin High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010. Was elected into the Southern Nevada Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2011 as a coach.
Randall Wade Cunningham Sr. is an American former football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 16 seasons. He spent the majority of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles and is also known for his Minnesota Vikings tenure. A four-time Pro Bowl selection, Cunningham is fourth in NFL quarterback rushing yards, which he led at the time of his retirement.
Jerry Esther Tarkanian was an American basketball coach. He coached college basketball for 31 seasons over five decades at three schools. He spent the majority of his career coaching with the UNLV Runnin' Rebels, leading them four times to the Final Four of the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, winning the national championship in 1990. Tarkanian revolutionized the college game at UNLV, utilizing a pressing defense to fuel its fast-paced offense. Overall, he won over 700 games in his college coaching career, only twice failing to win 20 games, while never having a losing season. Tarkanian was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.
Ryan Quinlan Claridge is a former American football linebacker. He played in the National Football League (NFL) for the New England Patriots in the 2005 season, but was released early during 2006 training camp. He played college football at UNLV and is currently the owner of Big Apple Bagels in Traverse City, Michigan, which he purchased in May 2022.
John Alexander Robinson is an American former football coach best known for his two stints as head coach of the University of Southern California (USC) football team and for his tenure as head coach of the NFL's Los Angeles Rams (1983–1991). Robinson's USC teams won four Rose Bowls and captured a share of the national championship in the 1978 season. Robinson is one of the few college football head coaches to have non-consecutive tenure at the same school. In 2009, he was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame.

Hernandez James "Hunkie" Cooper is an American former football player who was a wide receiver and linebacker for the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League until his retirement in 2005. He is a two time recipient of the Ironman of the Year award and was voted league MVP in 1993.

Willis Ireland was an American college football and baseball coach in Nevada. He was the first head coach of the UNLV Rebels football team, UNLV athletic director and founder of the Battle for the Fremont Cannon. Additionally, he was head baseball coach at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Joe Kristosik is a former American football player. After graduating from Bishop Gorman High School in Summerlin, Nevada, he entered the working world as a door-to-door salesman and a valet before enrolling at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He was a walk-on to the UNLV Rebels football team and, after a redshirt season in 1994, he became the starting punter for the Rebels from 1995 to 1998. As a senior, he led the NCAA with an average of 46.2 yards on 76 punts. His average of 46.2 yards per punt was, at the time, the second-highest in NCAA history for a punter with at least 75 career attempts. Kristosik was a consensus first-team selection for the 1998 College Football All-America Team. He was inducted into the UNLV Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008.
Anthony Phillip Sanchez is an American college football coach and former wide receiver, who is the current head football coach at New Mexico State University, his alma mater. He was the head coach at UNLV from 2014 to 2019. Before that, he was the head football coach at Bishop Gorman High School.
Thomas N. Wiesner, also known by his nickname "Big Dog", was an American politician and businessman. Wiesner initially played football for the Wisconsin Badgers from 1958 to 1960, before moving to Las Vegas in 1963. Seven years later, at the age of 31, he became the youngest person to be elected to the Clark County Commission. Wiesner served two terms before losing re-election in 1978. Wiesner was also an owner of the Marina Hotel, which later became the MGM Grand resort.
Freddie Banks is an American former collegiate and professional basketball player. Banks attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and is a member of the UNLV Athletics Hall of Fame. Banks was the first pick of the second round of the 1987 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons.
