Tongcheng is a county-level city and former county in the southwest of Anhui province and is under the jurisdiction of the prefecture-level city of Anqing. Its population is 744,000 and its area is 1,571 km² (607 sq mi). Tongcheng is noted for the Tongcheng School.

Tongcheng is the governmental seat and the name of a county in Xianning City, Hubei, People's Republic of China, bordering the provinces of Jiangxi and Hunan.
