Anthony John Sheehan (born 24 December 1948) is a former Australian politician. He obtained an economics degree at La Trobe University and was a school teacher at Heidelberg High School. He was elected branch secretary of the Victorian Secondary Teachers Association.
He was a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from the seat of Ivanhoe (1982–85) and Northcote (1988–98). He was a member of the ALP.
He held a number of ministerial positions in the government of Joan Kirner. He was the Minister for Housing and Construction in 1990–91. He was then appointed the Minister for Finance in 1991–92 and Treasurer from January to October 1992 when the Kirner government was defeated. [1] He resigned from parliament in 1998 and was succeeded in his seat by Mary Delahunty.

Joan Elizabeth Kirner was an Australian politician who was the 42nd Premier of Victoria,serving from 1990 to 1992. Kirner was a minister and briefly deputy premier in the government of John Cain Jr.,and succeeded him as premier following his resignation. She was Australia's third female head of government and second female premier,Victoria's first,and held the position until her party was defeated in a landslide at the 1992 state election.
John Mansfield Brumby is the current Chancellor of La Trobe University and former Victorian Labor Party politician who was Premier of Victoria from 2007 to 2010. He became leader of the Victorian Labor Party and premier after the resignation of Steve Bracks. He also served as the Minister for Veterans' Affairs and the Minister for Multicultural Affairs. Within weeks of this leadership change,Brumby left parliament,with a Broadmeadows by-election taking place on 19 February 2011.
