The tropics are the region of Earth surrounding the Equator. They are delimited in latitude by the Tropic of Cancer in the Northern Hemisphere at 23°26′11.6″ (or 23.43657°) N and the Tropic of Capricorn in the Southern Hemisphere at 23°26′11.6″ (or 23.43657°) S; these latitudes correspond to the axial tilt of the Earth. The tropics are also referred to as the tropical zone and the torrid zone. The tropics include all zones on Earth where the Sun contacts a point directly overhead at least once during the solar year. Thus the maximum latitudes of the tropics have the same value positive and negative. Likewise they approximate, due to the earth not being a perfect sphere, the "angle" of the Earth's axial tilt. The "angle" itself is not perfectly fixed due chiefly to the influence of the moon, but the limits of tropics are a geographic convention, being an averaged form, not least the variance is very small.

Torridal Church is a parish church in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the village of Aukland, just south of the village of Mosby and just north of the village of Strai, on the west shore of the river Otra. The church is part of the Torridal parish in the Kristiansand arch-deanery in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The church is surrounded by a cemetery. The white church was built in 1978 using expanded clay aggregate. It seats about 215 people.
HMS Torrid was an R-class destroyer which served with the Royal Navy during World War I. Subsequently, Torrid was used in the 1930s as a trials ship for new anti-submarine warfare weapons, particularly playing a role in the development of ASDIC. The vessel was launched on 10 February 1917 and wrecked off the Falmouth coast en route to being broken up on 16 March 1937.
