The Tour du Sud-Est was a professional cycle race held as a stage race in France. It was first held in 1919 and held for the final time in 1983, although it wasn't held every year. In 1965 it was part of the Super Prestige Pernod series. The race was also known by different names in its history: Circuit de Provence (1919–1920), Circuit du Byrrh (1927–1929), Tour des Provinces du Sud-Est (1955–1957) and Circuit du Provençal (1964–1965).

Roger Walkowiak was a French road bicycle racer who won the 1956 Tour de France. He was a professional rider from 1950 until 1960. He died on 6 February 2017 at the age of 89.
André Darrigade is a retired French professional road bicycle racer between 1951 and 1966. Darrigade, a road sprinter won the 1959 World Championship and 22 stages of the Tour de France. Five of those Tour victories were on opening days, a record tied by Fabian Cancellara in 2012.
Artūras Kasputis is a retired track and road racing cyclist from Lithuania, who represented the USSR at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. There he won the gold medal in the men's 4.000 team pursuit, alongside Viacheslav Ekimov, Dmitry Nelyubin and Gintautas Umaras. During the Soviet time he trained at Dynamo sports society in Klaipėda. He was a professional road cyclist from 1992 to 2002, and afterwards became a cycling manager in the professional circuit.
Jean Forestier is a French former cyclist. He was a professional from 1953 to 1965. Forestier won the points classification in the 1957 Tour de France, and wore the yellow jersey for two days. He also won the 1955 Paris–Roubaix.
Bernard Gauthier was a French road racing cyclist, who was professional from 1947 to 1961. He won the Bordeaux–Paris road race on four occasions.

Christophe Riblon is a French former road and track racing cyclist who competed as a professional for the AG2R La Mondiale team for 13 seasons between 2005 and 2017. He also competed for France at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

He was the younger brother of Tour de France winner Henri Pélissier, and the older brother of Tour de France stage winner Charles Pélissier. He also won the French National Road Race Championship three times as well as two stages at the Tour de France.

Bernard Guyot was a French road cyclist. His sporting career began with U.S. Creteil. As an amateur he competed in the individual road race at the 1964 Summer Olympics, won the Peace Race in 1966, and placed fourth in the team time trial at the 1966 UCI Road World Championships. In 1967 he turned professional and won 10 races before retiring in 1974. He raced the Tour de France in 1968-1972, placing 27th in 1968 and 28th in 1971. In the national professional road championship, Guyot placed second in 1972 and third in 1969. His father Bernard Sr. and brothers Claude and Serge were also competitive cyclists.

The Tour de la Provence is an early-season bicycle stage race in the Provence region of France. It is organized by southern French newspaper La Provence, which serves as the race's title sponsor for its first three years. It is held in February, as a 2.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour calendar. and became part of the UCI ProSeries in 2020. La Provence has entrusted the organization of the event to Serge Pascal, who also organizes the Tour du Haut Var. The inaugural edition of 2016 was won by Thomas Voeckler.
