Voices of a Distant Star is a Japanese science fiction original video animation (OVA) short film created and animated by Makoto Shinkai. It follows the lives of two close childhood friends,a boy and a girl,who get separated once the girl is sent into space to fight in a war against aliens. As the 15-year-old girl goes deeper and deeper into space,the texts she sends take longer to reach the Earth;the film simultaneously follows her battles and the boy's life as he receives her texts over the years.
Project A-ko is a 1986 Japanese action-comedy science fiction anime film that had several sequels and a spin-off. This film focuses on a happy-go-lucky 16-year-old red-haired,sailor-suited teenage schoolgirl,A-ko Magami,who goes on her magical adventure from high school to outer space as she struggles to finish her homework,rescue her friend C-ko,and save the Earth from an evil alien invasion. This series references a number of other works of anime from the 1970s and 1980s,such as Macross,Fist of the North Star and Gundam. The title itself is a reference to the 1983 Jackie Chan movie Project A,although the film bears no resemblance to Project A;the working title ended up sticking.
Ulysses 31 is a French-Japanese anime series (1981) that updates the Greek mythology of Odysseus to the 31st century. The show comprised 26 half-hour episodes and was a co-production between DIC Audiovisuel and TMS Entertainment. The rights to this show,like most of DIC's other programs,are presently owned by WildBrain,through its in-name-only unit,Cookie Jar Entertainment. Prior to 2006,the international distribution rights were owned by Saban International and Jetix Europe.
Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II:Lovers Again is a six episode OVA in the Macross franchise. It was the first installment of Macross to feature a new cast of characters. Macross II was produced by Big West,with no involvement from the original series creators from Studio Nue or the original series animators from Tatsunoko Production.
Sgt. Frog,known in Japan as Keroro Gunso,is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Mine Yoshizaki. It was launched in Monthly Shōnen Ace in April 1999. The story follows the attempts of a platoon of frog-like alien invaders to conquer Earth. Sergeant Keroro,the titular character,is the leader of the platoon,but is at the mercy of a human family of three after being captured by them. Keroro is forced to do meaningless chores and errands for the family after his army abandons his platoon on Earth.
Gunbuster,known in Japan as Aim for the Top!,is a Japanese OVA anime series produced by Gainax released from 1988 to 1989. It was the directorial debut of Hideaki Anno,best known as the creator and director of Neon Genesis Evangelion. The title is a combination of the titles of classic tennis manga and anime Aim for the Ace! and hit action drama film Top Gun,whose plot inspired Gunbuster's. To celebrate Gainax's 20th anniversary in 2004,an official sequel to Gunbuster,Diebuster,was released as an OVA. The sequel features new characters and mecha,but retains the format and many of the concepts of the original series.

The series follows a catgirl named Di Gi Charat "Dejiko" who was adopted as the mascot of Broccoli's retail chain store,Gamers. The original anime series and its original video animations (OVAs) are set in a Gamers store. There are twenty Gamers stores across Japan.

G-Force:Guardians of Space (1986) is the second American animated television adaptation of the Japanese anime series Science Ninja Team Gatchaman (1972),following Sandy Frank Entertainment's initial 1978 effort Battle of the Planets and preceding ADV Films' 2005 attempt,known merely as Gatchaman. With G-Force,Sandy Frank Entertainment collaborated with Turner Broadcasting to create a newer,more faithful translation of Science Ninja Team Gatchaman for a new audience,and such a translation was made possible with the relaxed television standards of the 1980s,a luxury that the more Star Wars-themed Battle of the Planets did not enjoy.
She and Her Cat,subtitled Their standing points,is a 1999 Japanese original video animation created and directed by Makoto Shinkai. It is a five-minute story about the relationship between a male cat and his female owner told from the cat's perspective. Shinkai made the film to help a romantic interest overcome a difficult situation,and his time living in a small apartment defined the scenario. The film used his own hand-drawn illustrations and its 3D scenes were mainly done through Adobe After Effects. He also voiced the cat,and he had only the cooperation of three other people in the work.
New Fist of the North Star is a three-episode original video animation (OVA) series based on the Fist of the North Star franchise,directed by Takashi Watanabe and produced by OB Planning. The story was adapted from Jubaku no Machi,a 1996 Hokuto no Ken novel written by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara set sometime after the conclusion of the original manga. An English dubbed version of the OVA was produced by ADV Films in 2004.
Sweat Punch is a series of five Studio 4°C shorts collected in January 2007 as a direct-to-DVD package film titled Deep Imagination. The first four shorts had previously featured on the 4-volume "DVD magazine" series,Grasshoppa!,with one Sweat Punch episode per Grasshoppa! DVD. Upon collection and release in 2007's Deep Imagination,a fifth short was added to the Sweat Punch series. Lupin the Third:The Woman Called Fujiko Mine is a Japanese anime television series produced by TMS Entertainment. It is the fourth television anime series adaptation of the Lupin III manga created by Monkey Punch. Directed by Sayo Yamamoto,it aired on Nippon TV from April 4,2012 to June 27,2012. It focuses on the franchise's heroine,Fujiko Mine,as she undergoes various missions and encounters the rest of the Lupin III cast for the first time. Unlike the franchise's previous three televised anime,The Woman Called Fujiko Mine is more sexually oriented in order to capture the "sensuality" present in the original manga,as well as darker and more serious. It is also the only installment in the franchise to be directed by a woman and the first in which Lupin is not the protagonist.
Sayo Yamamoto is a Japanese anime director. She is known for directing the critically acclaimed anime series Michiko &Hatchin,Yuri!!! on Ice,and Lupin the Third:The Woman Called Fujiko Mine. After graduating from the College of Art and Design in Tokyo,she began work at Studio Madhouse,where she had her directing debut at age 25.
