Tricia McLaughlin is an American spokeswoman serving as Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs in the United States Department of Homeland Security. [2] [3]
McLaughlin served in the first Trump administration in the State Department as Chief of Staff for Nuclear Arms Control. [2] McLaughlin led communications for the 2022 reelection campaign of Ohio governor Mike DeWine and the Vivek Ramaswamy 2024 presidential campaign. [1]
In the second Trump administration,McLaughlin has served as spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security. [4] [5] [6] Following the killing of Renee Good,McLaughlin wrote on social media:"Dangerous criminals —whether they be illegal aliens or U.S. citizens —are turning their vehicles into weapons to attack ICE". [7] [8] On January 13,2026,Ricardo Antonio and Emilio Roman-Flores,twin brothers from New Jersey,were arrested for allegedly threatening to hang McLaughlin. [9] [10] [11]
McLaughlin graduated from Sycamore High School in Cincinnati,Ohio. [1] She then pursued a political science and government degree at the University of Maryland. [1] McLaughlin worked with Benjamin Yoho on Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign. [1] McLaughlin married Yoho,now the CEO of The Strategy Group Company,in 2026. [1] [12] A ProPublica investigation published in November 2025 showed that Strategy Group had received over $200 million to launch an advertising campaign for the Department of Homeland Security.
