The Mississippi Braves, or M-Braves as they are referred to locally, are a Minor League Baseball team based in Pearl, Mississippi, a suburb of Jackson. The team is the Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, and plays in the Double-A South. The team is owned and operated by Liberty Media, which also owns the Atlanta Braves. Liberty purchased the Braves from Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting unit in 2007.
Trustmark Park is the home of the Mississippi Braves, Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves and is located in Pearl, Mississippi, USA. The ballpark, which opened April 18, 2005, has capacity for 8,480 fans. There are 5,500 chair-back seats in the reserved seating areas. The grass berm beyond the outfield walls has room for an additional 2,000 general admission customers. On August 13, 2006, a record crowd of 7,652 saw the M-Braves defeat the Huntsville Stars 4–2. The largest crowd to ever see a game at the park was the 2016 Governor's Cup in which 8,542 fans watched the Mississippi State Bulldogs defeat the Ole Miss Rebels, 2–0.

The Jackson, MS Metropolitan Statistical Area is a metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in the central region of the U.S. state of Mississippi that covers seven counties: Copiah, Hinds, Holmes, Madison, Rankin, Simpson, and Yazoo. As of the 2010 census, the Jackson MSA had a population of 586,320. According to 2019 estimates, the population has slightly increased to 594,806. Jackson is the principal city of the MSA.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball team representing Mississippi State University in NCAA Division I college baseball. The program is a member of the West Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The current head coach is Chris Lemonis. They have appeared in the College World Series 12 times, winning their first national championship in their most recent appearance in 2021.

The RSA Trustmark Building, originally the First National Bank Building, is a 34 story, 424-foot (129 m) International Style office tower located in downtown Mobile, Alabama. Most recently known as the AmSouth Bank Building, it had been named in honor of its largest tenant until 2006, AmSouth Bancorporation. It was renamed the GM Building by its new owner, Retirement Systems of Alabama, in 2009. Following a lease agreement with BancTrust Financial Group and its community bank subsidiary, BankTrust, it was renamed again, this time to the RSA–BankTrust Building. BancTrust Financial Group was purchased in 2013 by Trustmark Corporation, a Mississippi based financial institution. The building officially became the RSA Trustmark Building. Trustmark occupies 72,000 square feet (6,700 m2) of the tower, including the lobby floor and floors 25 through 31.
The 2011 Conference USA Baseball Tournament was held at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi from May 25 through May 29, 2011. The winner received Conference USA's automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. The tournament consists of eight teams split into two four-team pods, with the teams with the best record in each pod going on to a single-game final.
Phyliss J. Anderson is the first female elected Chief of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. She succeeded the incumbent Miko, Beasley Denson after the election committee concluded ballot count on July 6, 2011. Anderson polled 1,971 votes to defeat Beasley Denson who polled 1,618.
The 2013 Conference USA Baseball Tournament was held from May 22 through May 26 at Reckling Park in Houston, Texas. The annual tournament determines the conference champion of the Division I Conference USA for college baseball. Rice won their fifth tournament championship and claimed the league's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. This is the last of 19 athletic championship events held by the conference in the 2012–13 academic year.
The Mississippi State–Ole Miss baseball rivalry is a college baseball rivalry between the Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team of Mississippi State University, in Starkville, Mississippi and the Ole Miss Rebels baseball team of the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi. The rivalry series has included a single neutral-site game since 1980, known first as the Mayor's Trophy and later as the Governor's Cup. This game is in addition to the games played as part of the Southeastern Conference schedule.
