Tue Bjørn Thomsen (December 21, 1972 April 23, 2006) was a professional boxer from Denmark, whose best performance as an amateur was winning the bronze medal at the 1997 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Born in Egedesminde, Greenland to family of Danish and Icelandic heritage, he made his professional debut in late 1997. On March 31, 2000 he won the vacant IBC Super Cruiserweight Title by defeating Nate Miller of the United States, in the Esbjerg Stadionhal in Esbjerg, Denmark. On April 23, 2006, Thomsen was knifed to death during a bar fight in central Copenhagen. [1]

Boxing combat sport

Boxing is a combat sport in which two people, usually wearing protective gloves, throw punches at each other for a predetermined amount of time in a boxing ring.

The Men's 1997 World Amateur Boxing Championships were held in Budapest, Hungary from October 18 to October 26. The ninth edition of this competition, a year after the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, was organised by the world governing body for amateur boxing AIBA. The tournament saw the increase in the age limit of boxers from (32) years to (35) years of age.

Arne Sørensen Danish footballer

Arne Sørensen was a Danish association football player and coach. In his playing career, Sørensen won a total three Danish championships with B 1903 and B 93, before moving abroad to play professionally in French football. He played 30 games and scored four goals as a midfielder for the Denmark national football team. As a coach, Sørensen won silver medals with the Danish national team at the 1960 Summer Olympics, and also won the Danish championship with Esbjerg fB, KB, and Hvidovre IF.
