Smith attended Jasper High School in Plano, Texas. Coming out of high school, he was rated as a four-star recruit, where he committed to play college football for the Texas A&M Aggies over offers from other schools such as Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, and USC. [1] However, Smith flipped his commitment on national singing day to play for the Texas Longhorns. [2]

[4] In week 12 of the 2025 season, Smith notched nine tackles with two going for a loss and a sack in a loss against Georgia. [5] In week 13, he was ejected in the first half on a targeting call versus Arkansas.
