The UAAP Season 79 Men's Football Final took place on 7 May 2017 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.It Will be the final match of the UAAP Season 79 football tournaments of the UAAP Season 79.It was contested between the Ateneo Blue Eagles and the FEU Tamaraws. Ateneo won 1-0, with Jarvey Gayoso's goal at the 39th minute to claim their seventh UAAP Football Championship title.
The Final Four of the tournament are #1 seed Ateneo Blue Eagles, #2 UP Fighting Maroons, #3 FEU Tamaraws, and #4 UST Growling Tigers who just finished from the Elimination Round. The number 1 seeded team Ateneo Blue Eagles beat the #4 team UST Growling Tigers in the score of 2-1.And in the other match, the number 3 seeded team FEU Tamaraws beat the defending champions and the number 2 seeded team UP Fighting Maroons in the score of 1-2.That makes Ateneo Blue Eagles meet the FEU Tamaraws in the championship match.

Jarvey Gayoso took the lead for Ateneo at 1-0 in the 39th minute with a winning left-foot attack that finally penetrated FEU's defense after a deflation to give Ateneo a good end of the first half. In the second half, the FEU Tamaraws had several offsides and freekicks but it did not change the momentum of the match and Ateneo claimed their seventh title of the UAAP Football Championship. Ateneo last tasted the championship victory in 2012.

Match rules
The match was broadcast live on ABS-CBN Sports+Action for regular channel and ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD via livestream and Cable TV.The match commentators are Bob Guerrero and Armand Del Rosario.
The match was attended by 120 people in Rizal Memorial Stadium. Some notable spectators are the FEU Lady Tamaraws Volleyball team, FEU Courtside Reporter Ganiel Krishnan, former Ateneo Blue Eagles basketball star Chris Newsome, and several players from the Ateneo Lady Eagles and Ateneo Blue Eagles Volleyball team.
UAAP Season 69 was the 2006–07 season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The University of the East was the season host with the theme “Achieving Excellence in Sports Through Unity, Harmony and Commitment.” The season started with basketball competition on July 8, 2006 at the Araneta Coliseum.

The basketball tournaments of UAAP Season 69 started on July 8, 2006 at the Araneta Coliseum and ended on October 2, 2006 also at the same venue with the UST Growling Tigers defeating the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the third game of their Finals series.
The volleyball tournaments of UAAP Season 69 ran from December 3, 2006 to February 21, 2007 at various locations within Metro Manila which include Rizal Memorial Coliseum, University of The Philippines Human Kinetics Gym and Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym.
The UAAP Season 70 volleyball tournaments opened December 1, 2007 and ended March 2, 2008. The tournament host is University of the Philippines. Tournament games were held at the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagle Gym, Rizal Memorial Coliseum, Ninoy Aquino Stadium and University of the East Gymnasium.
UAAP Season 73 is the 2010–2011 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. It was hosted by De La Salle University. The men's basketball and the women's volleyball tournaments were aired by ABS-CBN Channel 2 and Studio 23 for the eleventh consecutive year following the renewal of the contract for the broadcast of the games. The opening ceremonies were held on July 10, 2010 with the opening game pitting the season host and the UP Fighting Maroons.

UAAP Season 76 is the 2013–2014 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. It was hosted by Adamson University with Fr. Maximino D. Rendon, C.M. as president. There were eight universities that competed in fifteen sports with poomsae, a form in the sport of taekwondo now recognized as a regular sport and included in the general championship tally.
UAAP Season 77 is the 2014–15 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The season host is the University of the East with Carmelita Mateo as president. Eight universities are competing in fifteen sports to vie for the general championship. Each sporting event is hosted by a school.
UAAP Season 78 was the 2015–2016 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). It opened on September 5, 2015, almost two months after the usual July opening of the league during previous seasons, due to the shift in the academic calendars of four member universities, i.e. Ateneo, La Salle, UP and UST. It was hosted by the University of the Philippines.
UAAP Season 79 is the 2016–2017 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season, hosted by the University of Santo Tomas officially opened on September 3, 2016. The opening ceremony was held at the UST Plaza Mayor at 3:00 pm with the formal introduction of ballroom dancing as a demonstration sport in this season by the host school University of Santo Tomas (UST) at España, Manila. The official ceremony started at 5:00 pm as there was a concert party themed "Dare to Dream" where the official theme song for the season was revealed. However, unlike in the previous years when the first double-header basketball games were held following the opening ceremonies, this year it was held the following day, September 4 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The UAAP Season 78 seniors division football tournament started on February 7, 2016, following the shift in the start of the league. The tournament opened at Emperador McKinley Hill Stadium in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. Other games were held at the Moro Lorenzo Football Field of Ateneo de Manila University in Katipunan Ave., Loyola Heights, Quezon City. Ateneo was the tournament host.
The UAAP Season 78 Men's Football Final took place on 5 May 2016 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. It was contested between UP Fighting Maroons and Ateneo Blue Eagles. UP won 4–1, with one goal from Daniel Gadia and a hat-trick from Kintaro Miyagi, to claim their sixth UAAP Football Championship final victory; Ateneo's goal was scored by Mikko Mabanag.
UAAP Season 80 is the 2017–18 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season was hosted by the Far Eastern University.
UAAP Season 81 is the 2018–19 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season is hosted by National University.
The UAAP Season 80 Men's Football Final took place on 3 May 2017 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. It will be the final match of the UAAP Season 80. It was contested between the UP Fighting Maroons and the UST Growling Tigers. UP won 1-0, with Ian Clarino's 21st minute goal to claim their eighteenth UAAP Football Championship title.
UAAP Season 85 was the 2022–23 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Season 85 theme is "Rise as One", and the season host was the Adamson University. With just seven events in Season 84, the collegiate league will be bringing back the full athletic calendar of events for Season 85.
UAAP Season 86 is the 2023–24 season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The season host is the University of the East (UE) under the theme "Fueling the Future". The opening ceremonies was held on September 30, 2023, or right after the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, which was co-hosted by the Philippines. UE also aims to add more events to the calendar, subject to the approval of the UAAP Board.
The UAAP Season 86 collegiate division football tournament started on February 18, 2024, while the high school division started on January 21, 2024. Both the collegiate and high school divisions were played at the UP Diliman Football Stadium in Quezon City.
