The UMass Lowell Men's Lacrosse team is a college lacrosse team that represents UMass Lowell in Lowell, Massachusetts, United States. The school's teams are members of the America East Conference. Ed Stephenson was hired on August 1, 2013 to become the program's first head coach. [2]

The Ed Stephenson Years

Ed Stephenson was hired as the first Men's lacrosse coach in UMass Lowell's history as a DI program in 2013. He led the River Hawks for eight seasons from 2015 through 2022, when he resigned. [3] The Stephenson era at UMass Lowell was dominated by losing seasons as he led the River Hawks to an overall record of 28-77 and never had a winning season during his tenure.

2018 was the height of the Stephenson era as the River Hawks went 8-8 during their fourth season as a DI program and made the America East Tournament, where they fell to top-seeded UAlbany.

During the Stephenson era, UMass Lowell produced five Second-Team All-Conference selections and seven America East All-Rookie selections. In 2019, midfielder Dan Cozzi and faceoff man Liam McDonough became the first players in program history to be named First-Team All-Conference honorees. [4]

Drew Kelleher was hired as the second head coach in UMass Lowell Men's lacrosse history on June 16, 2022.

The UMass Lowell River Hawks men's ice hockey team is the college ice hockey team that represents the University of Massachusetts Lowell. It competes at the NCAA Division I level in the Hockey East Association. The team competed at the Division II level until 1983. That year the University of Lowell was raised to D1 in hockey only and joined the newly formed Hockey East Association. Thirty years later with a name change to both the school and the team, the University of Massachusetts Lowell claimed their first Hockey East regular season title and HEA Tournament championship in 2013. The River Hawks made their first Frozen Four in 2013 as well. UMass Lowell would repeat as Hockey East champions in 2014 and then again in 2017.

The 2018–19 UMass Lowell River Hawks women's basketball team will represent the University of Massachusetts Lowell during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The River Hawks are led by first year head coach Tom Garrick and will once again play most their home games in the Costello Athletic Center while select games will be played in the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell and were members of the America East Conference. They finished the season 7–22, 3–13 in America East play to finish in a tie last place. Due to a tie breaker loss to New Hampshire and UMBC they failed to qualify for the America East women's tournament.

The 2019–20 UMass Lowell River Hawks women's basketball team will represent the University of Massachusetts Lowell during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The River Hawks are led by second year head coach Tom Garrick and will once again play most their home games in the Costello Athletic Center while select games will be played in the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell and were members of the America East Conference. They finished the season 15–14, 11–5 in America East play to finish in third place.

The 2020–21 UMass Lowell River Hawks Men's ice hockey season was the 54th season of play for the program, the 38th season competing at the Division I level, and the 37th season in the Hockey East conference. The River Hawks represented the University of Massachusetts Lowell and were coached by Norm Bazin, in his 10th season.
