1969 Malaysian general election

A general election was held on Saturday, 10 May 1969 for members of the 3rd Parliament of Malaysia, although voting was postponed until between 6 June and 4 July 1970 in Sabah and Sarawak. Fuad Stephens Malaysian politician

Tun Muhammad Fuad Stephens, was the first Chief Minister of the state of Sabah in Malaysia, and the first Huguan Siou or Paramount Leader of the Kadazandusun community. He played a fundamental role in bringing the state of Sabah into the Federation of Malaysia in 1963. He held the chief minister post until 1964, and again in 1976. During his second term as Chief Minister he died in a controversial accident on 6 June 1976, in Kota Kinabalu, the state capital of Sabah. He was a passenger in an Australian made Nomad aircraft which crashed and killed everyone on board. His body was buried at the State Mausoleum near the Sabah State Mosque, Kota Kinabalu.

Mustapha Harun First Governor of Malaysian state of Sabah

Tun Datu Haji Mustapha bin Datu Harun, or Tun Mustapha for short, was the first governor of the Malaysian state of Sabah. He was also the third chief minister of the state from 1967 to 1975, and was the president for the political party United Sabah National Organisation (USNO). He is considered by some to be one of the founding leaders of Sabah and was an important party in the negotiations leading to the formation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963.

United Sabah National Organisation political party

The United Sabah National Organisation was a political party in North Borneo and later Sabah, Malaysia. The widely known Sabah's Muslim indigenous especially Suluk-Bajau ethnic based party was founded by the third Chief Minister of Sabah; Mustapha Harun in December 1961.

Project IC is the name used in Malaysia to describe the allegation of systematic granting of citizenship to immigrants by giving them identity cards and subsequently its current iteration, the MyKad. The alleged practice is centred in the state of Sabah in East Malaysia. The term is used mainly by the media as well as other political commentators and the general public. Juhar bin Haji Mahiruddin is a Malaysian politician who has been Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Governor) of Sabah since 2011. Previously he was Speaker of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly from 2002 to 2010. He was Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat from 1990 to 1999. He is also the Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Sabah. Juhar is a founding member of the United Malays National Organisation's (UMNO) branch in Sabah.

The 1986 Sabah state election was held between Sunday, 4 May and Monday, 5 May 1986. The snap election was called by chief minister Pairin Kitingan in response to civil disturbances and political defections following the results of the 1985 state election. The election was won by Pairin's Parti Bersatu Sabah which kept all its seats and gained 9 more. Berjaya lost all 6 seats it held but gained one new seat from USNO. USNO had a net loss of 4 seats.

Sabah Chinese Consolidated Party

The Sabah Chinese Consolidated Party (SCCP) or Malay: Parti Cina Bersatu Sabah (PCBS) was a minor party which was formed in 1980. It claimed to represent the Chinese community in Sabah. In the 1981 state elections it joined forces with United Sabah National Organisation (USNO) and United Pasok Nunukragang National Organisation (PASOK) in an electoral pact to oppose to the ruling Sabah People's United Front (BERJAYA) and won one seat for N48 Bandar Tawau. However following the resignation of PCBS sole assemblyman Chan Tze Hiang, this seat was subsequently recaptured by Berjaya. PCBS decided not to contest the Sabah state election, 1985 and instead supported Joseph Pairin Kitingan's Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) in the elections.

United Progressive People of Kinabalu Organisation Political party in Malaysia

The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation is a multiracial political party based in Sabah, Malaysia. The party was rebranded from its previous party's name, United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation using the same UPKO acronym; which was a widely known Kadazan-Dusun-Murut (KDM) based party in 2019. The party had earlier been renamed once before in 1999 from its initial 1994 formation name of Sabah Democratic Party (PDS).

United Pasok Momogun Organisation

United Pasok Momogun Organisation is a ethnically-based political party in North Borneo. It was a splinter party of United National Kadazan Organisation (UNKO); founded by Donald Stephens earlier in 1961. The breakaway UPMO formed by Orang Kaya Kaya (OKK) Datuk G.S. Sundang, on January 1962 to fight for the interest of Kadazan-Dusun-Murut (KDM) races; with the supports and encouragement of the Chinese in Sabah. The split was in reaction and protest to the suggestion of the Prime Minister of Malaya, Tunku Abdul Rahman to create a new federation country named Malaysia, dubbed Projek Malaysia.

The 2020 Kimanis by-election is a by-election held on 18 January 2020 for the Dewan Rakyat seat of Kimanis. The seat was declared vacant after the Federal Court on 2 December 2019 upheld the Election Court's ruling earlier on 16 August, nullifying the sitting Member of Parliament (MP), Anifah Aman's victory in the 2018 general election (GE14). Anifah was the former Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2009 to 2018 and formerly a member of United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) part of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition until he left to become an independent, despite he had been 4-term MP for Kimanis since 2004 and had just retained the seat under BN in GE14.
