Indie rock is a genre of rock music that originated in the United States and United Kingdom in the 1970s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock. As grunge and punk revival bands in the US and Britpop bands in the UK broke into the mainstream in the 1990s, it came to be used to identify those acts that retained an outsider and underground perspective. In the 2000s, as a result of changes in the music industry and the growing importance of the Internet, some indie rock acts began to enjoy commercial success, leading to questions about its meaningfulness as a term.
Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city of Argentina. The city is located on the western shore of the estuary of the Río de la Plata, on the South American continent's southeastern coast. "Buenos Aires" can be translated as "fair winds" or "good airs", but the former was the meaning intended by the founders in the 16th century, by the use of the original name "Real de Nuestra Señora Santa María del Buen Ayre". The Greater Buenos Aires conurbation, which also includes several Buenos Aires Province districts, constitutes the fourth-most populous metropolitan area in the Americas, with a population of around 15.6 million.
In early 2002, Ezequiel Deregibus (Guitar and Vocals) and Juan Manuel Bordón (Bass), former members of the Argentine Emo-Pop band known as The Angry Surfers, decided to start a new project. The same night they came up with the idea, they invited Lucas Canosa (Guitar) and Oscar Castro (Drums) to join the band. After two practices they decided to call the band "Ushuaia Rocks!", as a tribute to the 80s Glam Rock band Hanoi Rocks, and to what is often considered the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia. During the rest of 2002, they kept practicing and recorded the first lo-fi record of the band, "Es la idea" ("Is the idea"), issued in February, 2003. That same year, Ushuaia Rocks! played a series of shows in the city of San Miguel, that gathered a rather small but stable fans basis. Later on the EP "Un Frío Infierno" ("A cold hell") was released. In 2004, the band played also a few shows in the city of Buenos Aires. 2005 was a very difficult year for Ushuaia Rocks!. Playing was rather difficult due to the Cro-Magnon tragedy and the band almost broke up due to tensions between Ezequiel Deregibus and Lucas Canosa. By early 2006, the band started to play very often with a small change in the line-up: Ezequiel Deregibus left the guitar to concentrate on the singing. In 2007, after another change in the line-up (Juan Bordón was replaced by Patricio Pomies) a second LP was recorded. This one remains unreleased. Patricio and Oscar left the band soon after. In 2012, the band performed a comeback show at xlr club in San Miguel, recording maybe its largest attendance ever. After this show, the band remained disbanded, with Lucas playing guitars in Miravientos and Ezequiel concentrating efforts in TMFD.
Hanoi Rocks was a Finnish rock band formed in 1979. They were the first Finnish band to chart in the UK and they were also popular in Japan. The band broke up in June 1985 after the drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley died in a car accident during their first US tour in December 1984. Original vocalist Michael Monroe and guitarist Andy McCoy reunited in 2001 with a new lineup that lasted until 2009. Although musically closer to traditional rock n' roll and punk, the band have been cited as a major influence in the glam metal genre for bands such as Guns N' Roses, Skid Row and Poison.
Ushuaia is the capital of Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur Province, Argentina. It is commonly regarded as the southernmost city in the world. Ushuaia is located in a wide bay on the southern coast of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, bounded on the north by the Martial mountain range, and on the south by the Beagle Channel. It is the only municipality in the Department of Ushuaia, which has an area of 9,390 km2 (3,625 sq mi). It was founded October 12 of 1884 by Augusto Lasserre and is located on the shores of the Beagle Channel surrounded by the mountain range of the Martial Glacier, in the Bay of Ushuaia. Besides being an administrative center, it is a light industrial port and tourist hub.
The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. The line-up of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr led the band to be regarded as the foremost and most influential in history. With a sound rooted in skiffle, beat and 1950s rock and roll, the group were integral to the evolution of pop music into an art form, and to the development of the counterculture of the 1960s. They often incorporated elements of classical music, older pop forms, and unconventional recording techniques in innovative ways, and in later years experimented with a number of musical styles ranging from pop ballads and Indian music to psychedelia and hard rock. As they continued to draw influences from a variety of cultural sources, their musical and lyrical sophistication grew, and they came to be seen as embodying the era's sociocultural movements.
The Rolling Stones are an English rock band formed in London in 1962. The first stable line-up consisted of bandleader Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman (bass), Charlie Watts (drums), and Ian Stewart (piano). Stewart was removed from the official line-up in 1963 but continued to work with the band as a contracted musician until his death in 1985. The band's primary songwriters, Jagger and Richards, assumed leadership after Andrew Loog Oldham became the group's manager. Jones left the band less than a month before his death in 1969, having already been replaced by Mick Taylor, who remained until 1974. After Taylor left the band, Ronnie Wood took his place in 1975 and continues on guitar in tandem with Richards. Since Wyman's departure in 1993, Darryl Jones has served as touring bassist. The Stones have not had an official keyboardist since 1963, but have employed several musicians in that role, including Jack Nitzsche (1965–1971), Nicky Hopkins (1967–1982), Billy Preston (1971–1981), Ian McLagan (1978–1981), and Chuck Leavell (1982–present).
Pavement was an American indie rock band that formed in Stockton, California in 1989. The group mainly consisted of Stephen Malkmus, Scott Kannberg, Mark Ibold (bass), Steve West (drums) and Bob Nastanovich. Initially conceived as a recording project, the band at first avoided press or live performances, while attracting considerable underground attention with their early releases. Gradually evolving into a more polished band, Pavement recorded five full-length albums and nine EPs over the course of their decade-long career, though they disbanded with some acrimony in 1999 as the members moved on to other projects. In 2010, they undertook a well-received reunion tour.

Pajaritos, Bravos Muchachitos is the fourth album of the Argentinean musician Indio Solari among with his band "Los Fundamentalistas del Aire Acondicionado". The album includes the participation of "Semilla" Bucciarelli, Sergio Dawi and Walter Sidotti, old bandmates of Solari in Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota, in the last song "La pajarita pechiblanca". Even though Solari had intended to work with them before, they had not shared a studio since the band separated in 2001.
