Services are provided by Widerøe using Dash 8-100 aircraft to other communities in Finnmark and to Tromsø International Airport. The routes are subsidized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications through public service obligations.

It is the main church for the Vadsø parish which is part of the Varanger prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The gray, concrete church was built in a long church style in 1958 by the architect Magnus Poulsson. The church seats about 480 people.
Vestre Jakobselv Church is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vadsø Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Vestre Jakobselv. It is one of the churches for the Vadsø parish which is part of the Varanger prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1940. The church seats about 90 people. The building was designed by the Statens bygnignsinspektorat, a government agency now known as the Norwegian Directorate of Public Construction and Property. The church holds regularly-scheduled worship services every other Sunday.

The court served the eastern part of the county which includes the municipalities of Berlevåg, Båtsfjord, Gamvik, Lebesby, Sør-Varanger, Vadsø, and Vardø. The court was subordinate to the Hålogaland Court of Appeal. The court was led by the chief judge Steinar Langholm. This court employed a chief judge, three other judges, and five prosecutors.
