The Olt is a river in Romania. It is 615 km (382 mi) long, and its basin area is 24,050 km2 (9,290 sq mi). It is the longest river flowing exclusively through Romania. Its source is in the Hășmaș Mountains of the eastern Carpathian Mountains, near Bălan, rising close to the headwaters of the river Mureș. It flows through the Romanian counties Harghita, Covasna, Brașov, Sibiu, Vâlcea and Olt. The river was known as Alutus or Aluta in Roman antiquity. Olt County and the historical province of Oltenia are named after the river.
The Prahova is a river of Southern Romania, which rises from the Bucegi Mountains, in the Southern Carpathians. It flows into the Ialomița near Adâncata. The upper reach of the river, upstream of the confluence with the river Azuga is sometimes called the Prahovița.
Cibin is a river in central Romania, in the south part of Transylvania. Its source is close to the highest peak in the Cindrel Mountains of the Southern Carpathian Mountains. Upstream from its confluence with the Râul Mic, the river is also called Râul Mare. The river flows entirely in Sibiu County.

The Ampoi is a river in the Apuseni Mountains, Alba County, western Romania. It is a right tributary of the river Mureș. It flows through the town Zlatna, and joins the Mureș near Alba Iulia. Its length is 43 km (27 mi) and its basin size is 250 km2 (97 sq mi).
The Azuga is a left tributary of the river Prahova in Romania. It discharges into the Prahova in the town Azuga. Its length is 23 km (14 mi) and its basin size is 88 km2 (34 sq mi).
The Bega Veche is a left tributary of the river Bega in Romania and Serbia. It discharges into the canalized part of the Bega near Zrenjanin. In Romania, its length is 107 km (66 mi) and its basin size is 2,108 km2 (814 sq mi). The lower part of the river is the old course of the Bega. It drains the area north of the city of Timișoara. It flows through the villages Comeat, Bogda, Charlotenburg, Remetea Mică, Fibiș, Pișchia, Cerneteaz, Covaci, Sânandrei, Săcălaz, Beregsău Mare, Beregsău Mic, Bobda and Cenei in Romania, and through Hetin and Banatski Dvor in Serbia. Many rivers of the Banat plain have been channelized. The channelization started in the 18th century and has continued in the following centuries. At present most of these rivers have been integrated into the system of drainage channels of the area. This development has significantly modified the original natural river network.
The Barcău or Bereteu is a river which has its origin in Sălaj County, Romania. It is about 167 kilometres (104 mi) long with a watershed area of 5,812 km2 (2,244 sq mi). After crossing Bihor County in Romania and Hajdú-Bihar and Békés County in Hungary, it flows into the Sebes-Körös near Szeghalom. Its length in Romania is 134 km (83 mi).
The Valea Lacului is a right tributary of the river Barcău in Romania. It discharges into the Barcău in Petreu. Its length is 11 km (6.8 mi) and its basin size is 22 km2 (8.5 sq mi).
