Vells is an indie rock band from Seattle, Washington. The band was formed by Tristan Marcum and Ryan Kraft along with Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green after his brief departure from the group in 2001. After releasing their self-titled debut EP on Seattle's Luckyhorse Industries in 2003, Vells signed with the experimental label imputor? and released their debut full-length Flight From Echo Falls on September 7, 2004. After the release of Flight From Echo Falls' and the subsequent departure of two of its founding members; Guitarist Ryan Kraft and Bassist Adam Howry, the band reformed with a new DIY approach to recording.
In 2004 the members of Vells formed a pop-electronic side-project named Psychic Emperor.
In 2007, Vells released their second full-length titled Integretron on imputor? Records.

Modest Mouse is an American rock band formed in 1992 in Issaquah, Washington, and currently based in Portland, Oregon. The founding members are lead singer/guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green and bassist Eric Judy. Strongly influenced by Pavement, Pixies, XTC, and Talking Heads, they rehearsed, rearranged, and recorded demos for almost two years before finally signing with small-town indie label K Records and releasing numerous singles.

Isaac Kristofer Brock is an American musician who is the lead singer, songwriter, guitarist and banjoist for the indie rock band Modest Mouse, as well as his side project band, Ugly Casanova. As a songwriter, he is noted for his wordplay and frequent use of metaphors, philosophical lyrics, themes of authentic rural lifestyles, and phrases and sayings commonly used in the early to mid-20th century and in blue collar environments. Following the death of Jeremiah Green in 2022, Brock remains the sole founding member of Modest Mouse and the only member to appear on all studio albums due to Green being absent from 2003-2004 and Eric Judy departing the band in 2011.

Dann Gallucci is an American songwriter, producer, musician and audio engineer best known for his work with Modest Mouse, The Murder City Devils, and Cold War Kids. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Gallucci met Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock in Seattle, Washington in 1993, playing guitar with the band intermittently before joining full-time to record several singles that would eventually appear on the album Sad Sappy Sucker, released by independent record label K Records in 2001.

The band is best known for their debut album Self Help Serenade, released in 2004 on Capitol Records. Marjorie Fair's melodic psychedelia has been compared to Mercury Rev, Pernice Brothers, The Beach Boys, Grandaddy, Elliott Smith and the solo works of Jon Brion, who contributed parts to Self Help Serenade.

In December 2006, Psychic Emperor released Communications, a 6-track EP containing live tracks recorded at Los Angeles' KXLU radio station. Psychic Emperor is also known for their indie rock covers of The Misfits Songs, including Angelfuck, Where Eagles Dare, Hybrid Moments, Last Caress and more.

No One's First, and You're Next is an EP by American indie rock band Modest Mouse, released on August 4, 2009. It features unreleased tracks and B-sides from the band's previous two studio albums, Good News for People Who Love Bad News (2004) and We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank (2007). The collection of repolished outtakes was first mentioned in February 2008 when Rolling Stone conducted a short interview with frontman Isaac Brock in their "Smoking Section" column; however, no other news regarding its release surfaced until an entire year later.
