Vemulapalli Srikrishna (1917 – 8 April 2000) was a communist leader, and led a number of labour movements. He also wrote the famous poem about Andhra, Cheyyethi Jai kottu Telugoda! Gatamentho Ghana keerthi kalavoda... He was the Editor of the Telugu News Daily "Visalandhra" during the years 1968–72. In 1962 Assembly elections, he won against Congress candidate Sri Tamma Ranga Reddy by a majority of 5,146 votes. And also in 1972 elections, he contested representing Communist Party of India (CPI) party and won against independent candidate Sri Gujjula Gangadhara Reddy by a majority of 5,369 votes. During his second tenure, he was the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. He was the only MLA who represented this constituency and served in Assembly as the Leader of Opposition. The mile stones in the development of Mangalagiri during his representation are Pilot Drinking Water Scheme (1975) and Degree College (1977).

The date maintained as the foundation day by the CPI is 26 December 1925. The Communist Party of India (Marxist), which separated from the CPI in 1964 following an ideological rift between China and the Soviet Union, continues to claim having been founded in 1925.

Tarimela Nagi Reddy, often called "TN", was a communist politician from Andhra Pradesh, India. He was born in a wealthy family in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. He completed his schooling from the Rishi Valley School India, founded by Andhra philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti. He would later study at Loyola College in Chennai and at Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi. During his student days, he got involved with nationalism and Marxism. His political activities got him jailed in 1940, 1941 and 1946. He revolted against his father who was a landlord and donated his land of over 1000 acres to landless labourers.
Paritala Ravindra, popularly known as Paritala Ravi, was a politician in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The Andhra Pradesh Legislature is the state legislature of Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It follows a Westminister-derived parliamentary system and is composed of an appointed Governor, the indirectly-elected Legislative Council and the popularly-elected Legislative Assembly. The Legislature currently works out of a temporary building located in the state capital Amaravathi.
S. P. Y. Reddy,, is a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India and won election on YSR congress party's symbol but later shifted his loyalty to TDP. He represents the Nandyal constituency of Andhra Pradesh and is a member of the Jana Sena Party. He is also an entrepreneur and heads the Andhra Pradesh - based Nandi Group of Industries. Reddy was born on 4 June 1950 in the Ankalammagudur village from Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Warangal and joined the Mumbai-based Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, India's premium nuclear facility. He quit the position of a Scientific Officer in 1977 and set up a plastic containers manufacturing plant in 1979. Thereafter, he diversified his company's operations into PVC pipes manufacturing in 1984 under the name of Nandi Pipes.
N. V. Krishnaiah was a communist politician from Andhra Pradesh, India. He was a municipal councillor in Nellore, member of the Andhra Pradesh legislature, president of the Indian Federation of Trade Unions and a central leader in the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).
Sanigaram Santosh Reddy, more commonly known as Santanna, Santosh Reddy, Mrudhu Swabhavi, Pedala Pennidhi by his followers, is an Indian politician and former minister of Telangana state. He is also related to Late Sri Muduganti Ramgopal Reddy Ex. MP and took him as an aspiration to be a leader.
Bhuma Nagi Reddy was an Indian politician. He was elected in a by-election to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1992 after the sudden death of his brother, Bhuma Sekhar Reddy, an MLA from Allagadda constituency in Kurnool district. In 1996, Reddy was the Telugu Desam Party candidate against Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao in the Nandyal Lok Sabha constituency election. He served in the 11th, 12th and 13th Lok Sabhas. Reddy died in office on 12 March 2017 after a massive heart attack at his home in Allagadda.
Kunduru Jana Reddy is an Indian politician. He was the leader of opposition in First Telangana Assembly, Served as the Minister for Panchayat Raj & Rural Water Supply in the State of Andhra Pradesh, India during its term 2009–2014. He was among the most prominent cabinet ministers of the ruling Indian National Congress (INC) & also served as Minister for Home, Jails, Fire Service, Sainik Welfare, Printing & Stationery government led by the late former Chief Minister Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy from 2004 to 2009. In 2009 elections he won with a margin 0f 6214 votes against Industrialist turned politician of TDP Chinappa Reddy Tera. In 2014 he won with a margin of 16558 votes over Nomula Narsimaiah of TRS in the year where Congress lost the majority vote. He was lost in 1994 to telugu Desam party candidate Gundeboina Rammoorthy Yadav
The first legislative assembly Election to the Madras state on the basis of universal adult suffrage was held in March 1952. This was the first election held in Madras state after the Indian Independence. This election was officially known as 1951 Madras State Election, even though through delays, actual voting didn't take place until early 1952.
Karra Subba Reddy was a politician from the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh, India. He represented the Koilkuntla constituency for three consecutive terms to Andhra Pradesh State Assembly.
Duddilla Sridhar Babu is an Indian politician and was a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, representing the Indian National Congress. He was the Minister for Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs, Legal Metrology and Legislative Affairs in the Government of Andhra Pradesh prior to that state being divided. He is now the MLA from Manthani Constituency, which he won in the 2018 Assembly Elections in Telangana. This is his fourth term as MLA.

Nomula Narsimhaiah is an Indian politician and present Member of Telangana Legislative Assembly belonging to Telangana Rashtra Samithi. He was elected as a legislator from Nagarjunasagar constituency in 2018 Telangana general elections by defeating Congress leader Kunduru Jana Reddy by 7771 voates. He was a legislator and a senior leader with CPI-M. He elected twice as a MLA from Nakrekal assembly constituency and leader of CPI-M in the Legislative Assembly.
Narra Raghava Reddy (1924–2015) was a leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), a six time MLA to Andhra Pradesh Assembly represented Nakrekal constituency of Nalgonda district. He participated in Telangana Rebellion along with Ravi Narayana Reddy, Dharma Bixam and joined the CPI in 1950 and was elected as sarpanch of Shivanenigudem in 1959. After the split in the CPI, he went with the CPM. Raghava Reddy was jailed was among the opposition leaders jailed by then Congress government during the emergency. He was elected state committee member of CPM in 1971 at the party meeting held in Warangal. He was elected as MLA of Nakrekal for six terms since 1967 elections. He won the elections as MLA from the constituency in 1972, 1978, 1984, 1989 and 1994. As the floor leader of the party in Assembly, Raghava Reddy raised a range of public issues and fought for the welfare of toddy tappers, gram sevaks and weavers. He died at the age of 92, in private Hospital at Narketpally on 9 April 2015.

These elections are to be held con-currently with the Indian general election, 2019. The incumbent Telugu Desam Party chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan and YSR Congress Party Chief Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy are the main opponents.
Ananthula Madan Mohan was a former politician from undivided Andhra Pradesh who was a four-time Member of Legislative Assembly and three-time Minister in Andhra Pradesh holding various portfolios. He was the Leader of Opposition when N. T. Rama Rao of Telugu Desam Party won a landslide victory in the 1983 Assembly election.
