Vigneshwara Maha Vidyalaya is a school in Trincomalee, founded in 1823 as a primary school by the Methodist church. It was upgraded to a Maha Vidiyalayam in 1979 and 1C grade school in 1981. Vikneshwara Maha Vidyalaya is located on the main street of the town of Trincomalee.
Trincomalee also known as Gokanna/Gokarna, is the administrative headquarters of the Trincomalee District and major resort port city of Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. Located on the east coast of the island overlooking the Trincomalee Harbour, 237 kilometres (147 mi) north-east of Colombo, 182 kilometres (113 mi) south-east of Jaffna and 111 kilometres (69 mi) miles north of Batticaloa, Trincomalee has been one of the main centres of Sri Lankan Tamil language speaking culture on the island for over two millennia. Trincomalee city is home to the famous Koneswaram temple alluded to in its historic Tamil name Thirukonamalai and is home to other historical monuments such as the Bhadrakali Amman Temple, Trincomalee, the Trincomalee Hindu Cultural Hall and, opened in 1897, the Trincomalee Hindu College. Trincomalee is also the site of the Trincomalee railway station and an ancient ferry service to Jaffna and the south side of the harbour at Muttur.

Kegalle is a large town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. It is located on the Colombo–Kandy road, approximately 78 km (48 mi) from Colombo and 40 km (25 mi) from Kandy. It is the main town in the Kegalle District, which is one of two districts which comprise Sabaragamuwa Province. The town is governed by an Urban Council.

Daya W. K. Sandagiri was the 14th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy. He was Born and bred in Veyangoda, Admiral Sandagiri had his education at St. Mary's Maha Vidyalaya, Veyangoda and Kegalu Maha Vidyalaya, Kegalle. He was enlisted in the then Royal Ceylon Navy on 14 November 1966 and was in the first batch of Naval Cadets to join the renowned Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee on July 1, 1969 and was commissioned into the Executive Branch of the navy as a Sub-Lieutenant on 1 July 1973.
