As of the census [1] of 2000, there were 845 people, 343 households, and 229 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 877.9 people per square mile (339.9/km2). There were 358 housing units at an average density of 372.0/sq mi (144.0/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 73.02% White, 20.71% African American, 4.97% from other races, and 1.30% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 18.34% of the population.
There were 343 households, out of which 26.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.2% were married couples living together, 16.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 28.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.98.
In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 21.5% under the age of 18, 11.2% from 18 to 24, 29.0% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 16.8% who were 65 years of age or older.
