Vincent Cassel is a French actor. He first achieved recognition for his performance as a troubled French Jewish youth, in Mathieu Kassovitz's 1995 film La Haine (Hate), for which he received two César Award nominations. He garnered wide recognition with English-speaking audiences for his performances in Ocean's Twelve (2004) and Ocean's Thirteen (2007), as well as Eastern Promises (2007), Black Swan (2010), and Jason Bourne (2016). Cassel is also renowned for playing the infamous French bank-robber Jacques Mesrine in Mesrine: Killer Instinct and Mesrine: Public Enemy Number One.
Green River was an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington in 1984. Although the band had very little commercial impact outside their native Seattle, Green River were pioneers of the grunge music genre. The grunge style was featured both in Green River's own music and the music its members would create in future bands, including Pearl Jam and Mudhoney. Green River reunited for several live shows in 2008 and 2009.

Crimson Rivers II: Angels of the Apocalypse, known as Les Rivières pourpres II: Les anges de l'apocalypse in the French release, is a 2004 action thriller film movie starring Jean Reno, Benoit Magimel and Christopher Lee. It is directed by Olivier Dahan and produced by Ilan Goldman. The movie is the sequel to the 2000 film, The Crimson Rivers, also known as Les Rivières pourpres in the French release. However, the 2000 film's creator Jean-Christophe Grangé wasn't creatively involved in the sequel movie; instead, this sequel movie was written by Luc Besson, whose company EuropaCorp also co-produced this movie.

French Creek, once known as Saukanac Creek, is a 22.6-mile-long (36.4 km) tributary of the Schuylkill River in Berks and Chester counties, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The water course was also known as the Vincent River, after Sir Mathias Vincent, who purchased land along it in Chester County in 1686.

Vincent Gordon Harding was an African-American historian and a scholar of various topics with a focus on American religion and society. A social activist as well, he was perhaps best known for his work with and writings about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whom Harding knew personally. Besides having authored numerous books such as There Is A River, Hope and History, and Martin Luther King: The Inconvenient Hero, he served as co-chairperson of the social unity group Veterans of Hope Project and as Professor of Religion and Social Transformation at Illiff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado. When Harding died in 2014, his daughter, Dr. Rachel Elizabeth Harding, publicly eulogized him on the Veterans of Hope Project website.

It was recorded at The Power Station in New York between March and May 1980, as one of the last songs recorded for the album. Originally Springsteen was going to keep the song off the album because it was so idealistic.
