The Virgin Islands Montessori School & Peter Gruber International Academy (VIMSIA), located on St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands, is an educational institution offering programs from kindergarten through high school. Founded in 1963 by a group of St. Thomas parents who wanted a Montessori-style education for their children, the school has grown into a leading institution in the region. It combines the Montessori method's and hands-on experiences with the International Baccalaureate program at the upper school level, fostering both academic and personal growth.
VIMSIA's campus reflects its education, with facilities designed to support a wide range of academic, artistic, and athletic activities. The upper school was named in honor of Peter Gruber, whose philanthropic support helped establish the IB program and expand educational opportunities. Guided by its motto, "Education For Life", the school emphasizes character development and global awareness. Under the leadership of Head of School Gloria Arpasi, VIMSIA continues to provide students with a supportive and innovative learning environment. [1] [2]
