Vol 2: Systematic/Automatic is the third full-length album, second live album and final release of the Australian hard rock/funk rock band Mammal, continuing their motto of releasing one record a year, alternating live and studio. The album was released in CD/DVD format. The album was recorded at the Annandale Hotel in Sydney over a period of three nights in March 2009, and mainly contains material from The Majority, in addition to some old favourites - like Vol 1, a typical setlist of the time. The DVD component of the album features a full recording of the band's April 2009 gig at the Ferntree Gully Hotel in outer Melbourne, as well as some backstage/tour footage from other shows around that time.
The album features guest appearances from violinist Xani Kolac (formerly of Martin Martini's Bone Palace Orchestra), comedian Eddie Perfect, and Cog drummer Lucius Borich.
The album was officially released on 5 September, although fans who preordered the album through the band's website received a signed copy delivered on 3 September, similar to what happened with The Majority.
The title of the album is taken from a line in the song 'The Aural Underground', found on The Majority.
Lucius Borich - percussion on Mr Devil & Inciting
Xani Kolac - violin on Religion & Living in Sin (also performs on these songs on the DVD.)
Eddie Perfect - rap on Burn Out (note: this performance was actually not recorded on the weekend in March 2009, but in September 2008 at the Annandale.)
Roughly two months after the album was released, a message was posted on The Mammal website detailing the disbanding of the group due to 'personal, political, musical and business differences'. [3]
