The station is owned by Saint Paul, Minnesota-based Hubbard Broadcasting. WHEC-TV's studios are located on East Avenue in Downtown Rochester, and its transmitter is located on Pinnacle Hill in Brighton, New York.
WRGB, virtual and VHF digital channel 6, is a CBS-affiliated television station licensed to Schenectady, New York, United States and serving New York's Capital District (Albany–Schenectady–Troy) as well as Berkshire County, Massachusetts. Owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group, WRGB is part of a duopoly with CW affiliate WCWN and the two stations share studios on Balltown Road in Niskayuna, New York. WRGB's transmitter is located on the Helderberg Escarpment west of New Salem, a hamlet of New Scotland. WCWN additionally carries a simulcast of WRGB's main channel in 720p high definition on subchannel 45.3 for the convenience of UHF viewers who don’t receive WRGB's VHF signal.

The station can also be seen on the eastern fringes of the Utica market.

Donald E. "Don" Weeks was an American radio personality. He was the longtime host of the WGY Morning News on news and talk radio station WGY in Schenectady, New York. Prior to working for WGY, Weeks was a weatherman for WAST-TV and a DJ for Top 40 station WTRY, now sports station WOFX. Weeks joined WGY as a morning host in 1980, and has won numerous accolades since, including the NAB Marconi Award for Medium Market Personality of the Year in 2005. Weeks was also inducted into the New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame in 2009.
Mount Rafinesque also known as Bald Mountain is a mountain in Rensselaer County, New York located north Brunswick Center outside Troy, New York. Bald Mountain is home to WNYT's former analog transmitter site.
