Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) is a state network of PBS member television stations and NPR member radio stations serving the U.S. state of Georgia. It is operated by the Georgia Public Telecommunications Commission, an agency of the Georgia state government which holds the licenses for most of the PBS and NPR member stations licensed in the state. The broadcast signals of the nine television stations and 19 radio stations cover almost all of the state, as well as parts of Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
WCLK – branded Jazz 91.9 – is a non-commercial jazz radio station licensed to serve Atlanta, Georgia. Owned by Clark Atlanta University, the station covers much of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The WCLK studios are located on the Clark University campus at the Robert W. Woodruff Library, while the station transmitter is located in Atlanta's North Druid Hills section. In addition to a standard analog transmission, WCLK broadcasts over two HD Radio digital subchannels, and is available online.

WUWG, FM 90.7, is the radio station that formerly broadcast at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia, and is now a part of the Georgia Public Broadcasting radio state network. This station is one of several in the GPB system that also produces its own programming; however, the vast majority of the broadcast day is a simulcast of the statewide feed. That feed is also duplicated locally both by GPB's WJSP-FM in Warm Springs and WGPB-FM in Rome, with most NPR programming also carried by non-GPB station WABE from nearby Atlanta. Several programs are also duplicated on Atlanta's WRAS, most of whose broadcast day was involuntarily taken from Georgia State University students in June 2014, resulting in programs like Morning Edition and All Things Considered being aired in the Carrollton area on no fewer than five different frequencies at once for seven total hours every weekday. Originally licensed to the university and operated entirely by students, WUWG was transferred outright to GPB in 2004, though it is unclear under what circumstances. When GPB consolidated broadcasting operations in its Atlanta offices in 2008, Dr. Brad Yates, chair of the UWG Mass Communications department, made advances to start a new student-run radio station.

The three outlets share studios on Bismark Road in the Morningside/Lenox Park section of Atlanta; WABE-TV's transmitter is located on New Street Northeast in the city's Edgewood neighborhood.
WRAS is a non-commercial FM radio station in Atlanta, Georgia, licensed to Georgia State University. Its schedule is split between public radio programming from Georgia Public Broadcasting airing from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily and college radio programming funded by the university's student activity fee airing from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. The Album 88 and 88.5 GPB Atlanta formats are both available 24 hours a day on separate internet streams, and Album 88 is also available full-time on WRAS's HD-2 subchannel.

William Jonathan Phelps, known as Jonathan Phelps, was a radio announcer on Atlanta, Georgia's classical music stations WGKA-FM and WABE-FM. Born in Tennessee, he moved to Atlanta in 1937, where he began as an announcer on WGKA-FM in 1956. He stayed with that station until it was sold in 1971 and its programming format changed, whereupon he went to WABE-FM, eventually became program director, and stayed with that station until his retirement in 1991. Known locally for his rich voice, he was also a Shakespearean actor and a part-time ballet dancer, having performed some roles with the Atlanta Ballet. On radio, he spoke without a trace of his native Tennessee accent, or indeed, any kind of Southern accent.

On September 16, 2017, Scout Schultz, a 21-year-old student of the Georgia Institute of Technology, was shot once and killed by Tyler Beck, an officer of the Georgia Tech Police Department, a shooting that was later found justified in a formal investigation. Schultz had summoned police to the scene by making a false claim that someone was standing outside their dorm with a knife and a gun. Schultz then stood outside the dorm carrying a multitool. When the police arrived, Schultz walked towards the police, asking them to shoot. The multitool contained a screwdriver and a short blade that was not out, but given the earlier call, the police had reason to believe Schultz had a gun. The incident was followed by protests and civil unrest, which led to multiple arrests. Schultz's parents filed a wrongful death suit. The shooting was investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. In March 2020, it was announced that Tyler Beck would not face charges.

The Sidney Lanier Monument is a public monument in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Located in Piedmont Park, the monument consists of a bust of Sidney Lanier, a notable poet from Georgia. The monument was dedicated in 1914.
