The men's tournament in wheelchair basketball at the 1992 Summer Paralympics was held in September 1992 in the newly built Palau Municipal d'Esports de Badalona with a capacity of 12,500 spectators. [1]
The United States beat the Netherlands in the final by 39 to 36, but were disqualified as one of the US players tested positive for doping. [2] The team of the Netherlands was declared the official winner of the tournament, while Germany ended in second place and France in third. [3] [4]

The 1992 Summer Paralympics were the ninth Paralympic Games to be held. They were held in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. In addition, the 1992 Paralympic Games for Persons with mental handicap were held immediately after the regular Paralympics in the Spanish capital, Madrid.
Steven Serio is a wheelchair basketball player. As a co-captain of the USA Men's National Wheelchair Basketball Team, he led the American men to their first Paralympic gold medal since 1988 at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games and defended the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. He currently plays for the New York Rolling Knicks in the NWBA Championship Division.
