Will Anderson is a Scottish-born film animator, living and working in Edinburgh, best known for his award-winning short animation The Making of Longbird.
Anderson was born and attended school in Dingwall, Scottish Highlands. [1] He became an award-winning animator when in 2013 he won a BAFTA for his short animated film The Making of Longbird. Watching adult themed animations such as South Park created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker sparked an interest in this genre and, using an old camera that belonged to his dad, he created his own short film clip which inspired him to apply to Edinburgh College of Art. [1] He attended Edinburgh College of Art after leaving school in 2007, graduating in 2011 with a BA in animation. [2]
Anderson achieved international acclaim with his graduation film The Making of Longbird, which has been screened at over 50 film festivals, winning awards at the BAFTAs, the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, Glasgow Short Film Festival, Leipzig DOK Festival and the Warsaw International Film Festival. William Norman McLaren, LL. D. was a Scottish Canadian animator, director and producer known for his work for the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). He was a pioneer in a number of areas of animation and filmmaking, including hand-drawn animation, drawn-on-film animation, visual music, abstract film, pixilation and graphical sound. McLaren was also an artist and printmaker, and explored his interest in dance in his films.
Ainslie Thomas Henderson is a Scottish singer-songwriter and animator. He gained fame via his participation in the BBC's television programme in 2002, Fame Academy. He signed a recording contract with Mercury after leaving the show, having been placed fourth. His subsequent single, "Keep Me a Secret", written alongside fellow contestants in Fame Academy, reached the fifth position on the UK Singles Chart.
George Garnett Dunning (1920–1979) was a Canadian filmmaker and animator. He is best known for producing and directing the 1968 film Yellow Submarine.
DOK Leipzig is a documentary film festival that takes place every October in Leipzig, Germany. It is an international film festival for documentary and animated film founded in 1955 under the name "1st All-German Leipzig Festival of Cultural and Documentary Films" and was the first independent film festival in East Germany. In 1995 a separate competition for animated films was added and in 2004 a film industry program, DOK Industry, was initiated to allow a networking and contact platform for industry professionals. Shortly after German reunification attendance figures dropped, with just 5,500 people coming in 1993; however, they quickly picked up and in 2008 the festival had more than 27,000 attendees. DOK Leipzig is part of the Doc Alliance – a creative partnership between 7 key European documentary film festivals.

The Sand Castle is a 1977 stop motion animated short created by Co Hoedeman for the National Film Board of Canada. It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 50th Academy Awards.
Periwig Maker is a 1999 British-German short stop motion animation film. 15 minutes long, it is based on Daniel Defoe's novel A Journal of the Plague Year (1722). The film was produced by Ideal Standard film, directed by Steffen Schäffler and narrated by Kenneth Branagh.
Triggerfish is a computer animation film studio based in Cape Town, South Africa and Galway, Ireland. The studio is best known for its animated feature films Adventures in Zambezia (2012), Khumba (2013), and Seal Team (2021), as well as the work they have done on television specials created for UK producers Magic Light Pictures. In 2016, Stick Man was awarded the Cristal for best TV production at the Annecy International Animation Festival. In 2017, Revolting Rhymes again won the Cristal for best TV production at the Annecy Festival, and was nominated for the Best Short Film (Animated) Oscar at the 2018 Academy Awards. In 2019, Netflix announced that Triggerfish would produce its first African animated TV series. In 2020, Zog won the International Emmy for Best Kids Animation. In 2021, The Snail and The Whale won Best Special Production at The Annie Awards, while Triggerfish received the Mifa Animation Industry Award at Annecy for "the pioneering role that the company has played in animation in South Africa, and Africa most widely.” In 2022, their third film, Seal Team, made the Netflix Top 10 Films global list for its launch week.
Adam is a 1992 British stop-motion clay animated short film written, animated and directed by Peter Lord of Aardman Animations. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short and the BAFTA Film Award for Short Animation in 1992, and won two awards at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in 1993. It is based on the beginning of the Book of Genesis. It was distributed by Aardman Animations.

Impossible Figures and Other Stories I is a 2021 Polish and Canadian short film and the third chapter of a trilogy of animated stories written and directed by Polish filmmaker Marta Pajek. The film has been critically acclaimed and featured in several festivals, such as Linoleum Festival, DOK Leipzig and the Paris International Animation Film Festival. The film qualified for the 95th Academy Awards in the eligible films under the category Best Animated Short Film, but was not selected as one of the final five nominees.
Too Rough is a 2022 Scottish short film written and directed by Sean Lìonadh and starring Ruriadh Mollica and Joshua Griffin. The film is set in Glasgow, Scotland and follows the character of Nick who, following a night of partying and intoxication, wakes up next to his boyfriend Charlie and must conceal him from his own homophobic and dysfunctional family.
